Also nicknamed Soubi no Taki meaning beautiful forked waterfall in the Ainu language. Easy to find, just before the tunnel on route 334. Lots of parking and a short hike. Wear something waterproof because you will get wet.See more..
A waterfall about 600m in the Shirogane Onsen area of Biei town Asahikawa city. We understand that it was named after splashes of the falls resembles the white moustache, and indeed it looked as so.. A rare waterfall where the underground water starts oozing from cracks of rocks at the higher levels! The water springs from beneath the rocks and cascades down spectacularly into the moss-covered rock in the river below, creating a beautiful splash of cobalt blue colors. Very scenic with thick forest surrounding and many viewed the falls from the Blue River Bridge, which crosses the Biei River as it gives us a great vintage point to observe it. It was late-Oct and maple leaves are at full bloom, superb for photo shots for your IG & FB indeed. Not to be missed when one is here in Biei!See more..
We took this 11kilometre dirt road down to the falls which took us around 30 minutes, as we took it slowly with the rocky surface and potholes. The road is only open to cars after mid September I think, as the car park is very small, so in peak times you can only get here by bus. The falls were not the highlight for us, as there was a steep path to get to the area where you walk up through the water and no-one else was there. If you had an accident I am not sure how you would fair. On the road we fist encounters a red fox sunning itself in the centre of the road. There was a family of deer, a huge male with gigantic antlers that we saw first, then on the return journey we saw a Doe and adolescents. Then the highlight - a huge brown bear walking down the track towards us, unperturbed until he got close. We were lucky that we were in the car, as he sized us up before deciding to exit via the forest.See more..
4.0Furepe Waterfall(278 reviews) - Frozen in February Waterfalls
A very pleasant 2km walk to the falls. Allow 40” to walk in winter. Do take care walking on the narrow pathways.See more..
This is my 2nd time at the waterfall during winter seasons and its a very beautiful place, despite frozen water and covered with thick snow. The floor is very slippery due to frozen ice so you have to be extra careful. I fell down once there. The temperature is very cold due to strong winds. So you cannot stay out in the open for too long. There is a little souvenir store which most of us went hiding inside there and end up buying food stuff. The staff is very friend and will offer you a drink (think its pepper tea) and trust me, in that super duper cold weather, the hot piping drink is a saviour.See more..
This place is filled with tourists and tough to get a clean shots. Not the most spectacular water fall though it's located between a valley. See more..
4.5Sakura Falls(98 reviews) - "Dancing" Salmon out of the Falls Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls
We were encouraged by the Locals to visit this Sakura Falls to see Salmon jumping.... (will be my first time). There were signs indicating that bear may "appear".. as we walk in to see the falls, we enjoy the gentle breeze and the sound of the water and when we saw the salmon "jumping" out of the fall it was so thrilling and refreshing... it's a small fall but a nice stop to enjoy such nature.See more..

4.0Sandandaki Park(19 reviews) - A nice pitstop on the way to Furano Spent < 1 hour Parks • Waterfalls
Random stop-by on the way to Furano and glad we did. A short break of 30mins to take a breather, enjoyed the weather, stream and the mini waterfall! Could've explored the entire park if it wasn't an impromptu stop, would probably spend an hour or so if we wanted to! The map indicated some monkey park nearby as well, but not so sure!See more..
3.5Seseki Fall(19 reviews) - Can't miss it when driving to Seseki Onsen Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls
Easily visible as you drive towards Seseki and Aidomari Onsen the falls are simple but better than some others seen in Shiretoko. There is nowhere to park so just enjoy the view as you drive by although there is hardly any traffic so a few minute stop may be OK.See more..
