One of the issues with visiting Biei in Autumn is that it is betwixt and between. Many of its attractions centre on picturesque areas of farming and flowers in spring and summer and I suspect the countryside is similarly picturesque under a mantle of snow in winter. In autumn much of this charm is well hidden. The great reward in visiting this gallery is that Shinzo Maeda's wonderful photography shows you the countryside in all seasons at its most beautiful. As a bonus the wander through the rows of birch along the pathway through the garden is wonderful. I can imagine the experience could be tempered by bus loads of tourists but for us it gave a glimpse of Biei's scenic heart. Many of the photographs are available in forms ranging from high quality full sized framed prints to postcards and calendars so it is possible to leave with a photographic record of this beautiful area.See more..
Free to enter but you are encourage to buy something. Great photos (even if the flower postcards are a bit touristy and cheesy). A short walk from the cheese factory and a good place to visit for a moment's calm away from the bus tours.See more..
