Many foreign traders settled in this neighborhood in the mid 1800s, which still contains a number of foreign buildings, including the Russian Orthodox Church and the Chinese Memorial Hall.See more..
4.5Onuma Park Walking Path(339 reviews) - Onuma Quasi National Park - Amazing! Historic Walking Areas
Onuma Quasi National Park is definitely one of the most beautiful and breathtaking park that I had ever visited. It is amazing. A great place to have a walk/stroll and enjoy the beautiful scenery (mountains, lakes islands , bridges, etc). Check out the photos! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you are in Hakodate. It’s worth the trip! There is a small shop that sells souvenirs, snacks and local beer if you are interested. How to get there: From Hakodate JR station, I took the Limited Express Super Hokuto train (1160 yen, one way, non-reserved seat) in 20 mins to Onuma Koen Station. A reminder to check the return schedule because the trains are not so frequent in the evening and it doesn’t run very late, therefore you may miss the train back. 4.0Daimon Yokocho(214 reviews) - Foody paradise Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas
This area is so adorable with a congregation of small restaurants, just off the main shopping street. Wish we had time to try them all, as they were all so intriguing and appealing. Attempting to choose a restaurant is a difficult task as they all appear amazing, but regardless of choice, great food and serviceSee more..
This place is only 20 minutes drive from Kushiro airport. Perhaps, the handy detour you can do after arrival on the way to go to either Kushiro-city gourmet or Lake Akanko hotspur. There is a two footpath from this viewpoint. Shorter one (2.5km) is to reach to 'satellite view point' where you have African like very wide view and also enjoy the birds singing or refreshing green. Kushiro national park is all wet and soft ground, and thanks to that, nearly all the foot path of shorter course is build by wood. Easy to walk ( I was wearing suits, in fact). Longer path (4.5km) has up and down as it by-pass to the down of the hill where you can walk the path which was horse-trailing rail in the past. You may be able to find wild animals, too.See more..

4.0Kamuikotan(40 reviews) - Beautiful Scenery Off The Beaten Track Spent < 1 hour Historic Walking Areas • Lookouts
On the Asahikawa tourist information map, we saw that this place is one of the 8 views of Asahikawa and hence decided to give it a try. Getting to this place is in itself a challenge, as there seems to be only one bus service (bus pick up point at bus stop number 10) to this area with limited bus service timings and lack of clear information on which stop to alight. Do ask for specific directions from the Tourist Information Centre at the Asahikawa JR station, there are a few friendly staff there who can speak in English and they will provide the bus service timings and give detailed instructions on getting to Kamuikotan, which includes the bus stop to alight from. From the bus stop, it is a short 7-10minute walk to get to the Kamuikotan bridge. The walk to the bridge is pleasant as during autumn season, you can enjoy the changing colours of the autumn season through the trees on the side of the river. It is also a special geological area given the way the rocks and stones are formed on the river bed. The area appears to be sacred to the indigenous people with local folklore stories attesting to how the area came to be known as the village of the gods. A walk across the white colour bridge will bring you to the old train station along with an actual replica of the old trains used in the past. There are toilet facilities on both sides of the bridge. There is a provision shop on one side of the bridge selling local fruits and other produce. This place, in my opinion, is best visited during autumn season. When we visited on 8 October 2019, the area is beautiful and quiet, and the place is mainly visited by locals who came in small busloads and a few Taiwanese tourists who seem to know this attraction. A nice place that is truly off the beaten track. Bring an umbrella along in case it rains, as there are few shelter facilities.See more..
