フェリーを使って北海道に行ってきました。青森た函館間はビューシートを利用。スタンダードより僅か数百円の差額でこの快適さは絶対お勧め！　飛行機で言えばビジネスクラスのシートで、ゆったり倒して快眠出来るのはもちろん、最前列なので景色も180度全開、最高です。バイクでの旅だったので、帰りは疲れで爆睡しました。 Went to Hokkaido with my lovely partner Harley Havidson. It has to be said that there are not many services on this line and even the limited expresses are not fast by anyone's standards. The journey is scenic from Asahikawa (most services originate in Sapporo). It is an 8400 yen return fare there, so a JR Pass or Hokkaido Pass is the way to go. Tge libe follows s number of river valleys and passes through forests and farmland. The station at Wakksnai is large even though it has just one platform, with a bus ticket office, a number of bus stops, the tourism office, and some food places. See more..

It was the wrong time of year to take the nightime dining and moonwatching train, so we did a day time excursion. We took the Shinkansen one stop from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto to Kikonai, then changed to the private railway to take us to Goryokaku. We bought our tickets from a station ticket machine and took the driver-only single railcar. The route is very scenic, with the mountains on the main island to the South, clear across the water.
