    we were chauffuered from our city hotel to somewhere near lake Toro. wore dry suit and toured the kushiro marshland with a guide paddling the canoe. saw eagles, deers and cranes. really worth it. then we went for the snowshoe walk up a nearby hill and we got to see a nice view of kushiro city. we were then chauffuered back to our city hotel. a good 4 hours private tour.     We hired R/Ujihara through Hokkaido Experience to take us on a private half-day trip from Kushiro to see the cranes roosting on the river and at the feeding at Tsurui Ito Sanctuary. We exchanged emails to arrange times and pick up/drop off. He arrived on time with a spotting scope and proceeded to give us a great half day of driving, observing cranes, fox, ducks, etc. at the river and cranes at the Sanctuary. His English was good and personality charming. In summer he leads half and full day canoe trips. He moved to the area 20 years ago to work in the outdoor industry, so is very experienced.     ８／１４にシーカヤックを体験しました。プユニ岬の少しウトロ寄りから、男の涙まで。１０数人参加者がいたようだったのですが、当日風が強くなり波も高くなる気配のため、集合してから各自の判断にゆだねられ、結局私含めて３名のみ参加。人数が減ったので、ガイドさんとのタンデムなら何とかなるだろうと。いやぁ疲れましたね。でも、クルーズ船でも入らない狭い湾内に入ることができるので、断崖や滝の迫力は段違いです。 See more..
