This place used to be an inn but with the bankruptcy of the nearby ski resort, it is now just operated as a hot spring, owned by the local municipality. The water is really sulpherous and the ladies' area has a mud bath, according to my wife (didn't notice one in the men's area). It's very clean and the staff are very friendly (no English appears to be spoken). Nearby is a pond full of hot sulphuric water and the steam and smell, and the woodland setting, give it a great atmosphere. See more..

This is how quiet this place is. Driving up the coast from Rausu to Shiretoko, the number of houses, the number of cars and the number of people gradually diminish. At the end, you see this onsen and then the road ends. It feels like this is the end of everything. Aidomari and Aidomari Onsen are worth going, not because you get to see a lot, but rather because you don't get to see much. We got a private onsen for 50 minutes which costs 1000 yen extra. The onsen was big enough for us (2 adults) but you could squeeze 2 kids in there as well. It is accessible by car or by bus (summer months only) about 20 kilometres north of Rausu. There is parking for two or three cars and an English-language sign at the parking area. About two kilometres north of the Seseki waterfall and two kilometres further is the Aidomari onsen. The onsen is visible from the road and has no privacy or changing areas. Ik ging er na een dag heel erg hard werken met Japanse vrienden heen om even "bij " te komen. Ik naar de dames afdeling en hun naar de heren. Het water was lekker warm en de aankleding van de baden deed heel luxe aan. Maar omdat ik de hele dag te hard had gewerkt en niet op mijn vochtgehalte had gelet werd ik niet goed in de kleedruimte. Er werd meteen hulp geboden door de dames van de receptie. Zeer attend en oplettend terwijl mijn Japans heel beperkt is en ik ze dus niet goed kon vertellen wat er met me aan de hand was. Door hun optreden bleef mijn bezoek aan deze onzen er een zonder problemen en denk ik er met plezier aan terug. Als ik volgende keer weer in Eniwa ben ga ik er weer naar toe. See more..

It is the begining and the end of the hike to Mt. Rausu. If you are doing that it is a greate way to end the hike by soaking in the hot water. There are 2 places to do it the first one had people soaking their feet but the second one just a short walk down the path is a small pool perfect for a couple and it is private. Me and my husband had great time relaxing after the hike. Otherwise going their just for the rotenburo is not worth it in my opinion. See more..

It's location is arguably the most scenic on the island, and is definitely worth the drive in any season. A large "relaxing room" can accommodate groups of any size and is a great place to stretch out, curl up with a book, or chat with friends after bathing. Half of the roof of this hard-to-find hot spring collapsed. Then the owners died. Apparently abandoned, the remainder of the inn and the owners' home was ransacked. Finally, the inn was bull dozed As of July 2017, all that was left was the sign on highway 207 and the two bubbling hot springs, both of which were covered over with plywood. This is the unfortunate demise to a traditional hot spring with a long and wonderful history. I visited in April and July of 2017. I have uploaded some of the last pictures of the inn. Perhaps some day someone will buy the property and build a new hot spring place, but the old traditional place is gone. See more..

日曜の昼に訪れましたが、そこそこ混んでいて、来るお客さん皆さん顔見知りのようで、地元の方々が集まる場所といった感じです。

Bankei Onsen is a collection of three inns and an elusive outdoor bath by the river on Hwy 453 between Kitayuzawa and the road to Lake Toya. Many guides and youtube videos that feature wild outdoor hot springs mention the Bankei riverside hot spring as a real find. I guess so, I had a hard time finding it but found it by the river by a parking lot. It wasn’t very hot. The three inns are the Bankeiso, the Yunotoya, and the Ito Onsen Ryokan Hikari. 駐車場は広く十分な台数を停められそうです。
お値段は400円で普通の公衆浴場価格でしたが、普通の温泉、入浴剤を入れているお風呂（週替わりとのことで、行ったときはラベンダー湯でした）、露天風呂となかなか充実していました。
温泉は加水あり濾過ありで有名温泉地の温泉、という感じではなく銭湯のようなものでしたが、ゆっくりつかれて楽しめました。
