I love stopping at St Regis Travel Center when I am passing through St Regis. They have lots of options for road snacks as well as meals. They have hot tea and the gift shop is a great place to break up a long road trip. I love saying hello to all the trout in the big aquarium. Today was my 3rd visit and Stacie Lyn wrapped up my gifts very nicely!!! She used beautiful purple paper and bows for my huckleberry products which I really appreciated. I always have a great experience at St Regis. The staff is so friendly and they really enjoy helping everyone who passes through. See more..

    - Very Helpful Resource Center

    Saint Mary Visitor Center image
We decided to stop into the visitor center to get the lay of the land, in order to make the best use of our time here. We interacted with a very helpful, knowledgeable ranger who mapped out all the drivable roads in the park for us. He also clearly explained the mileage between each road, and driving time to allow. Unfortunately, The Road to the Sun was still closed at Logan Pass on June 14, so we wished to drive what we could. We decided to watch the 15 minute video about Glacier National Park before leaving the center. Our time here was well spent and we were able to make the most of our day here. See more..

    Great Falls Montana image
If you’re looking for a place where you can enjoy a really good meal, with excellent service, a quiet sing ores , or a casual pub - then this is the place. Every time I visit Great Falls I try to dine here. Their a bit off the beaten track, but near the Russell Museum. Closed on Mondays, so be sure to check their hours. They have an avacodo, shrimp sandwich that is superb, great salads and amazing pasta. I’ve nev had their steaks because I keep ordering my favorites ( listed above). Having been born in great falls, I ’ve eaten all over this special town and highly recommend Dante’s. An interesting tidbit; my grandfather was a blacksmith in the mountain town of Augusta and he made the horseshoe that hangs over the entrance. ( I was told a family member founded the restaurant and later gave it up. Adorned with plants and local paintings, it’s charming. I’d love to hear your comments. See more..
  7. 4.5 Missouri Breaks National Monument Interpretive Center (57 reviews)
    - Beautiful Video of the Historic Missouri River
    Saturday: Visitor Centers
Missouri Breaks National Monument Interpretive Center image
The museum is small but, it does have a very nice video of this area of the Missouri River and Lewis and Clark Expedition experiences in this area. The video is so good that I wanted to buy a copy of it, but the very nice woman who was working in the Interpretive Center told me that they no longer have copies of it. The scenery along the river near the center is very pretty and it is worth a trip to the Interpretive Center just to see it. Both Fort Benton and this Interpretive Center are well work a trip. 13. 4.5 Historic Ninemile Remount Depot Visitor Center (13 reviews)
    - Nice side trip if you are in the Missoula area
    Saturday: Visitor Centers
Historic Ninemile Remount Depot Visitor Center image
This historic ranger station is just under a half hour drive from Missoula and is an interesting place to visit. It includes the story of the Forest Service use of mules, an active forest fire fighting ranger station, and a pleasant walking trail that is about a mile from the visitors center. The mule service is covered by a self guided walking tour taking you around the depot plus a visitors center (closed for renovations while I was there (June 2021) but should be open next month). The tour covers the different areas that were used for the mules such as the corrals, blacksmith shop, barn, and scales. Unfortunately, you cannot enter the buildings because they are in use today for the active ranger station. About a mile from the station is the Grand Menard Discovery Trail, which is a nice walk through a forest of Douglas-Fir and Ponderosa Pines. The trail is about a mile long and and a trail map is available at the visitors center. See more..

    - Excellent visitor center! Worth a stop even if you don't explore the park.
    Spent 1-2 hours Visitor Centers
Makoshika State Park Visitor's Center image
The visitor center and the park are almost two different experiences. The displays of the various fossils are extremely well done, especially for a state park. If you are a fossil/dinosaur person, this is a great stop. The small gift shop offers a nice selection of souvenirs too. Getting through Glendive to and from the park can be a struggle as it seems they skimped on road signs a bit. We definitely used our navigation app. See more..

  21. 5.0 Seeley Lake Historical Museum (2 reviews)
    - Fun At Double Arrow
Spent 1-2 hours Visitor Centers • History Museums
    Seeley Lake Historical Museum image
The Seeley Lake Historical Museum was built in the winter 1929-30 as a horse barn on the Double Arrow Ranch where the roof collapsed during the 100-year snow of 1996-97. The barn was moved about a half mile from its original location and first reopened the barn doors in 2001 after it had been salvaged, dismantled and rebuilt Lincoln-log style. The old barn continues to serve the needs of its surroundings, recalling the past while looking to the future of the Seeley Lake Area. Seven double size (two horse) stalls are themed displays about our local cultural and natural resources. Each stall, named after a team of horses which had occupied it, brings back memories for some and tweaks imagination for for others. Display themes include Joe Waldbillig Pioneer Display, Norman Maclean fire and fish display., The Big Burn fire of 1910, Cabin Fever Cures, Local business history display, Old Time Logging, and Wilderness Epicenter. The outside grounds have additional displays. See more..
