  1. 5.0 ABC Acres (4 reviews)
    - Amazing Family Experience
Monday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Farms
    ABC Acres image
ABC acres is a Permaculture Farmstead in the Bitterroot Valley of Western Montana, focusing on sustainable food production, healthy living systems, and regenerative ecological design. Our cattle, chickens, goats, turkeys, and pigs are out on open pasture, eating, resting, and living the way nature intended. Much like our livestock family, our vegetables, herbs, fruits, and nuts are grown with the same approach. It’s a mixture of annuals and perennials intertwined with pollinator species, companion plantings, and multi-structured food forests. It’s nature’s way…..a way of reducing disease, increasing harvest, and ensuring diversity for an overall healthy farm. In fact, doing things that mirror natural ecosystems is the focus of our operations. ABC acres offers Farm Stay Vacation Rentals, customized Farm Tours, Livestock Feedings, Self-Guided Farm Walks, and other on-farm activities complete with educational kiosks, Bitterroot River access, and an onsite Farm Shop. How cool it was to see a wind farm in Northern Montana! We were not looking for it, but had to turn around to go take pictures. Why aren't there more across the country??? We probably could have (and should have) driven closer. But sort of felt as if we were on a private road. See more..

The 'girls', the 'boys', the Mamas & babies (crias) readily came to their fences to greet their visitors. We each had a small bag of Alpaca food (pellets)to put in our hands, reach through the wire and feed them. The owner shared lots of unusual and interesting information about the animals while explaining that they are very 'easy keepers' and eco friendly animals. There is a small store of alpaca fiber products as well as some alpaca related novelty items. The second Saturday of the month they hold an 'Open Barn' from mid morning until about 2 pm. See more..

  6. 5.0 Riverhill Farm (1 review)
    - Organic Fruit and Vegetable Farm
Spent 1-2 hours Speciality & Gift Shops • Farms
This wonderful “pick your own” farm appealed greatly to us: Our gardening attempts at our home in Baja have failed, our flowers and tomato plants mowed down by ratas! Here we picked gorgeous giant thorn-free blackberries, and some raspberries as well. There are many other crops available for harvest, depending on what is ripe, when. Riverhill Farm is open to the public on Wednesday afternoons during the growing season. See more..
