This place is like a first class time machine. The store was very well maintained with many of the old time characteristics. The staff were nice and it was clean. 4.0Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary(135 reviews) - DOING IMPORTANT WORK! Spent 1-2 hours Speciality & Gift Shops • Nature & Wildlife Areas
Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary's mission is providing lifelong sanctuary to non-releasable Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem wildlife while sharing a message of education and conservation. For 35 years, we have provided homes to animals like bison, bears, mountain lions, wolves, hawks, owls, and foxes that rescue/rehab centers declare to be too badly injured, too habituated to humans, or too emotionally damaged to live in the wild. The Sanctuary offers visitors an unparalleled chance to learn about native wildlife by observing them at close range and experiencing our interpretive displays. We also offer custom-tailored guided tours, whether it's for just yourself, or a whole busload of kids from your school, club, or camp. Each animal that we accept becomes our responsibility for the rest of its life. At the same time, each of those animals provides an educational opportunity that can prevent other local animals from ending up in a facility like ours. Closed Jan - Mar.See more..

4.5The Polebridge Mercantile(121 reviews) - Baked Goods in the Woods Saturday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
The bakery at Polebridge Mercantile and Bakery is definitely worth the trip. It is located outside of Glacier NP and not too far from the Canadian boarder. Drive carefully, because we saw a lot wildlife walking in the dirt road. This bakery is very popular, and due to social distancing you may have to wait in line to enter the shop. A must try is the Huckleberry Bear Claw. They are HUGE and delicious. My son got a giant chocolate chip cookie, and said it was great. I also bought some huckleberry beer bread to take back home. It traveled well, and really tastes great toasted. I bought a pastry (not sure what the name of it is) that was really tasty. I really wished I bought another one because it really was delicious (third picture). There is a fruit stand on site where you can purchase fresh huckleberries and other items. See more..

4.0Lodgepole Gallery and Tipi Village(75 reviews) - Exactly what camping is ; but service and friendliness would make it more worth it Speciality & Gift Shops • Art Galleries
You get exactly what you see in pictures. Lovely surroundings in the middle of nowhere with your basic camping. It really is just a tipi tent with sleeping bags and wandering through a grassy area to get to the ablutions, which were clean. It certainly is not glamping and if you are not at least exposed to minimal camping you will not enjoy it. This is where the 3/5 comes in and had there been the extra friendliness and welcoming I would have scored higher. It is unfortunate as we enjoyed the storytelling by Darryl, and he seemed easy-going, but unfortunately, his wife, who runs reception and check-in, was unfriendly and not welcoming at all. Reading other negative reviews, it seems that there is a common denominator, which is such a pity as it is such a unique experience, with so much potential.See more..
4.5Parks' Fly Shop(72 reviews) - Awesome guides Saturday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops

I stopped by this place on my way back from Glacier National Park when I went to take a closer look at the classic Camaro parked out front. It turned out it belongs to the owner, Jim. He was a really nice guy and, we talked about cars for a bit. The shop has a great selection of huckleberry berry products like jams, sodas, candies, honey, etc. I got some of the huckleberry licorice and of course the huckleberry pie they sell at the counter. It was much better than the huckleberry pie I’d tried at other places around. Also more expensive but definitely worth it. It’s right off highway 2 near Glacier National Park and, definitely worth stopping in if you’re passing by after a hike.See more..

We often go horseback riding when we visit a National Park. Glacier Gateway Outfitters was one of the best rides that we have experienced. The horses were all very calm and gentle, well trained, and very well mannered. Bob, our guide who led the trip, was very friendly, knowledgeable, informative and entertaining. Bob and the other guides were all very professional and courteous. The asked and remembered everyone's name and frequently checked on everyone throughout the trip. Together, they made the trip very enjoyable. Finally, the scenery was beautiful. During the 2 hour tour we rode to the top of a large hill where we had amazing views in every direction. See more..

4.5KEHOE'S AGATE SHOP, INC.(40 reviews) - I am a local and a big rock fan! Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
I’ve lived here for three years and keep telling myself that I was going to go visit and finally did this morning. The mission was to identify a local rock I had found and I was so pleasantly surprised by their immediate recognition of it and all the great information provided about it. She was also kind enough to write it all down for me so that I could tell my geologist brother (who said “I’ve never seen a rock like that! Very cool!”). I was equally impressed by the large collection of fossils and stones, all beautifully displayed things in their store. You would never guess it’s as big as it is given the store front’s tiny size. There were several kids in there enjoying it as well as the adults so I would definitely recommend an hour of your time. As for the two silly negative reviews I read below, both from impatient tourists that need to wind down a bit and get with the Montana groove if they really want to enjoy “the last best place”. Established in 1985 by James 'Putt' Thompson and his wife, Jill, this is not your average gift shop. The massive log and frame structure is the first thing to transport you to the past, as the building was designed after the 1877 Old Fort Custer Hospital. Once you're inside, the journey continues. Rustic walls display exquisite traditional Crow Indian creations, including a beaded elk hide wedding blanket, numerous paintings, hand crafted turquoise and silver jewelry, and a large collection of fabulously beaded Crow and Cheyenne cradles. We hope to see you soon!See more..
4.0Yellowstone Gifts & Sweets(39 reviews) - Lovely gift shop with broad selection Speciality & Gift Shops
Stopped here looking for a couple Yellowstone trinkets to bring back to the family. This shop is clean and well organized with a nice selection. Prices are about what you'd expect and generally a bit less than you'd pay inside the park. They have a lovely chocolate counter and as you might guess a lot of huckleberry treats! I appreciate that they are following the governor's order and requiring masks. They also have ample hand sanitizer throughout the store. Though Karen in the prior review may have been upset that she had to wear a mask for 20 minutes, it's important to me that they are taking my health and the health of others seriously!See more..
4.5Three Dog Down(38 reviews) - Must see for anyone travelling through Poloson. Speciality & Gift Shops
Wonderful experience for fun, and shopping. The owner played the accordion and sang a song featuring the name of our grandaughter, then showed us around, and talked about many of the special artifacts and exhibits. Very friendly and fun! Probably more types of salt-water taffy than we've seen at any of the shops on the Oregon coast! Despite our protestations, he kept giving us discounts on our purchases. Even if you're not buying, superb place to stop and look around....inside and out! Thanks so much!See more..

4.5Red Rock Mine & Garnet Gallery(10 reviews) - Gem of a stop Saturday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops • Mines
Driving along MT Hwy 287, this gem of a stop is worth keeping an eye out for. You’ll get the full experience of screening to find your very own gems, and believe me, if you buy the $25 bucket you will find LOTS of garnets! There were two of us screening and it took a full hour, maybe a bit longer, to get through the whole thing. We enjoyed talking with Richard and Al about the area and other rockhounding tips while we picked through small rocks with tweezers. I would absolutely take our grandkids to do this, just divide up a bucket so it doesn’t take too long or they lose interest. There are covered and uncovered areas to work. We liked having the sun glint off the red gems. Great price …Add an hour to your itinerary and enjoy this interactive experience! There is an outhouse restroom (very clean).
