    Pompeys Pillar National Monument image
Lucky lovely day to visit as warm weather in April made for delightful stroll on the trail and up the steps to view the carved William Clark signature, petroglyphs and pioneer signings. The view from atop the pillar is a nice vista of the Yellowstone River and surrounding plains. The visitors center was not yet open, but the placards provided ample details of the Corps of Discovery encampment nearby - and a replica dual dugout canoe was a very keen project work to see. Nice way to spend a couple hours at an easy hike national monument with important history. See more..
  4. 4.0 The Ringing Rocks (33 reviews)
    - Super neat!
    Spent 1-2 hours Geologic Formations
    The Ringing Rocks image
Stopped here on our way to Butte. We just have a 2017 Jeep Cherokee and made it all the way to the top just fine. The only time we had to put it in 4X was in the thick sandy area. You will come to a few forks in the trail, all you need to do is follow the signs that don't have vehicles crossed off. Pretty easy! The first part of the road that runs parallel to the highway is grated and bumpy but it gets better after that, just go slow! You will know when you made it to the parking area because there are a lot of signs up there then it's just a short walk up a steeper hill to the rock pile that rings. If you have a side by side, lifted truck, or atv you can drive all the way up! Rocks are neat, and strange. View from the top is beautiful. See more..

The sacrifice cliff is an area south of Billings that can be viewed by the road, or hike below the area. The cliffs are named after Native Americans blind folding and riding their horses of the cliff in hopes that their sacrifice would end the small pox epidemic and save their families. See more..
