4.5The Stephen Foster Story(214 reviews) - Excellent Musical Monday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Theatre & Performances
The Stephen Foster Story is a two-hour, broadway-style show centered around the music of one of America's first recognized composers, Stephen Collins Foster. The performance takes place in My Old Kentucky Home State Park at the J. Dan Talbot Amphitheatre in Bardstown, KY. The grounds on which the theatre lies once belonged to the Rowan family, who were cousins of Stephen Foster, also home to the plantation house that inspired the state song, Federal Hill. Some of Foster's biggest hits, such as Oh! Susannah, Camptown Races, Old Folks at Home, & My Old Kentucky Home help tell the era's story, including the hardships and horrors the enslaved people lived through.See more..
4.5Paramount Arts Center(69 reviews) - A true gem hidden in a lot of coal. Monday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Theatre & Performances
This is a very old Art Deco styled theater. Now used for live performances. Performers are usually great (emphasis on country music) with some B-list performers thrown in. Have seen Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Merle Haggard, Ricky Skaggs, Frankie Valli, Brad Paisley, for example. The "off broadway" plays are frequently comparable to NYC. On stage jazz performances are also second to none; they close the curtains and the audience sits on the stage with the performers. Usually have a free buffet and sell wine. In my opinion, this place is on one of the city highlights!See more..

4.0The Southgate House Revival(19 reviews) - Award for the best repurposing of an old church Spent 2-3 hours Concerts • Theaters • Theatre & Performances
This is the most interesting venue that I have ever seen. Not sure if the church's founders would be proud that their creation is still be used for this or not but it is a great music venue. Came here for Ironfest an event to memorialize a local legend Iron Mike that is put on every year here. This venue is perfect for this with their 3 stages - The Revival Stage upstairs - The Lounge Stage just inside the side door, which is the main entrance and the Sanctuary Stage in main body of the church. The old pipe organ in still in there and really adds to the ambiance of this venue. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. But its the setting that makes this place and is worth seeing in its own right. If you get a chance check this place out you won't be disappointed.See more..
4.5Playhouse in the Park(12 reviews) - A 40 year old community theater that produces excellent plays Theatre & Performances Playhouse in the Park is located in a 100 year old railroad depot at the back of Central Park in Murray. It seats about 150 people so there isn't a bad seat in the place. They produce productions all year round including musicals, comedy, drama, children productions, very adult productions and the "Penguin Project", a show each year that features "challenged" youth in the acting roles. 4.5Lincoln Jamboree(9 reviews) - Wonderful Local Talent Theatre & Performances
My husband and I try to drive down from Cincinnati for a weekend trip two or three times a year to see this treasure. So much live music now is slickly professional. Sometimes it seems that big-name stars in expensive appearances are there to let people see them rather than to entertain their guests. The talented amateurs at Lincoln Jamboree are sincerely honored to entertain you. They really put themselves out there, real personalities not PR creations or characters. It's heart-warming to see such wonderful talent without ego or fancy surroundings.See more..
Went here with the wife last year. Sat front row for less than $30 to see Cirque Zuma Zuma (http://www.zumazuma.com) as part of the Hardin County Schools' Diversity Fair. I went to Vegas a few months later for my honeymoon and felt the showplace (PAC) was just as nice and the tickets were easier and the wallet at the hometown stage than the bright lights of the Vegas Strip.See more..
Loved the show The”gut” life. Very funny, entertaining, and informative about Amish life. Cast was great. Highly recommend it for a fun evening.See more..
4.568 Jamboree(2 reviews) - Hear some great country music! Monday: Spent More than 3 hours Theatre & Performances
If you are looking to hear some great country music and meet some locals, you need to visit Lebanon and go to the 68 Jamboree. The house band, the 68 Drifters, like to ham it up and have some fun while playing country hits from the 80's, 90's and more. They also get local guests up to entertain - at our show the Elvis impersonator did a great job! When you closed your eyes - wow - sound just like Elvis. It's only $10 to get in (Saturday nights ONLY) and you can purchase food, drinks etc. for a very reasonable cost! I think that for 2 of us to have 2 pork sandwiches, chips, drinks was $7.00! The seats are very comfortable and people are very friendly. I think many locals come regularly, so they willingly chat with "newcomers" to find out where they're from. The owner Bill, was very friendly and welcoming and gave me the opportunity to play a couple fiddle tunes with the band. It made my trip to Kentucky very special! Don't miss it!See more..
5.0The Burgin Barn(1 review) - Old time country music and great people! Spent More than 3 hours Theatre & Performances
The Burgin Barn was the highlight of my trip! I was going to Kentucky with the idea that I wanted to hear some good old tyme country music and to play my fiddle with a country band! Well Tommy, the owner of the Burgin Barn made that happen! What a great place. It's a small place that probably seats about 100, with comfortable theatre like seating. If you show up around 6pm there is a "pot luck" spread put on that locals have all contributed too with sandwiches, salads, and Tommy (if you're lucky) has made his awesome Apple Dumplings (yummy). The show starts around 7pm (ONLY ON FRIDAYS) and includes the house band The Kentucky Strangers with guest performers that get up to perform. It will take you back to the old days when country music really sounded like country music! It's $10 to get in for a 2 - 3 hour show (and includes your dinner). And the people at the barn are very welcoming and so friendly! I think by the end of the night I had spoken to each of them! Definitely include this on your trip to Kentucky - it's a wonderful night! I can't wait to go back.See more..
5.0The Village Players of Fort Thomas(1 review) - Be Cool - Go Here Spent 1-2 hours Theatre & Performances From the outside it looks like an old stodgy building. When you step inside you feel like you walked into an popup theater in a hipster neighborhood in Manhattan. It's a theater in the half-round, it's very dark, and there is very limited seating, but the ambiance is amazing. Very very cool. The performers are generally very talented performers that work the local theater circuit in the region so you get some really great shows. And....it's 5 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. If you like local theater you will LOVE this place.See more..
