    Wild Turkey Distillery image
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Wild Turkey! We didn't do the tour, just visited the gift shop. The building was absolutely beautiful and Jimmy Russell was there, signing bottles and posing for pictures! I had heard he hangs out there and was so glad to see that we caught him. He was so gracious and friendly - definitely a highlight of the trip. The tours were over for the day so we were allowed to walk to the back of the building where the tastings happen, and check out the view. It was stunning! Such a beautiful area. We'll definitely go back next time we're in the area. See more..
  8. 4.5 Four Roses (1.060 reviews)
    - This is the place if your are short on time
    Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Distilleries
    Four Roses image
If you don't have time for a full blown bourbon distillery tour in Bardstown, this is a nice option. The tasting walks you through all four of Four Roses signature bourbons. Our guide, Scott, walked us through Four Roses History and how each of the bourbons is different. Four Roses is unique in the number of mashbills and yeast they use to make their products. We also got inside a rickhouse (warehouse) and learned why Four Roses rickhouses are only six levels high compared to other distilleries. And the explanation made perfect sense. Prices in the gift shop are reasonable and I did pick up a Single Barrel with the recommendation of Scott. He had sampled the barrel this particular bottle came from and gave it high marks. - Immersive look at the distilling process
    Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Distilleries
    Preservation Distillery image
Shout out to our guide Mark for making my first tour of Preservation Distillery fun, memorable and educational. I didn’t know much about Preservation before the tour, but I was hoping for an immersive look at the distilling process. And that’s what Mark delivered. Honestly, I was not in the market for what, for me, is a high-priced bourbon in the form of Preservation’s Old Man Winter bottling. But after seeing corn being fed into their mill, seeing the distillation and then sampling raw spirit on the other side of the same building, I was sold on the craft of the process and I bought a bottle. Thoroughly enjoyed an hour of learning bourbon culture, American (and a little Scottish) history, and having a guided tasting to cap the experience. See more..

Four Roses Bourbon - Warehouse and Bottling Facility image
This distillery has some interesting history and a smaller venue for a quick(er) tour and tasting. The tour started with a tasting that included a complimentary glass and then a tour of the warehouses where the barrels are stored. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We took home a small batch bottle and a bottle that we couldn’t find at home. They had an outdoor space, but it looked like the drinks were pre-made or pre-mixed. Not quite the same vibe as other places we visited on the trail. See more..

  36. 4.5 The Old Pogue Distillery (43 reviews)
    - This tiny operation is well worth the visit for a couple of reasons....
Tuesday: Spent < 1 hour Distilleries
    The Old Pogue Distillery image
first of all it is an absolutely beautiful setting overlooking the Ohio River and the original distillery located on the banks of the river. The gorgeous old Pogue home serves as the visitor center/tasting room/museum and the very small distillery itself is a few feet away. The second reason is to be able to taste some of the best bourbon and rye out of not just this region of KY but KY as well. John, the sixth generation distiller, loves his craft and loves to share his knowledge w/ visitors. We spent twice as long as the usual hour talking bourbon, Maysville, history, &c and enjoyed every minute of it. The operation is tiny (essentially two people) so hours are few. Take advantage when/if you can and visit as it is definitely worth the trouble and effort. See more..

  41. 5.0 Log Still Distillery (27 reviews)
    - Small, but mighty!
    Distilleries
    Log Still Distillery image
This distillery was not on our list to stop at, but our host at the inn we were staying at in Bardstown recommended it. It is one of the newer distilleries and smaller than most of the distilleries we visited but it is a great place to sit and have a drink and enjoy the scenery. They also have a amphitheater where they put on concerts. They also give tours, but unfortunately, we did not have enough time to do one. Also, everyone there were so nice and we felt welcomed as soon as we stepped through the door. I guess I’m forgetting the most important thing, the bourbon! They had only one, Monk’s Road, the 6-year-old single barrel bourbon, which was very smooth and easy to drink. I did buy a bottle of the Monk’s Road, and a hat, so they do have some decent merch for sale. They also have gin, but I don’t drink it, so no opinion on that. If you have the time when you’re on the Bourbon Trail, make a stop at Log Still, you’ll love it! See more..
