It was a hands on experience. The instructor/owner Michelle, gave us an insight on the history of the business before going into detail on how to make canes, after which we proceed to choose a color then geared up to make the cane. The design of each unit was dictated by how we pulled and turned it. Michelle's whole family is involved with the business as well as her son who was the tour guide when we arrived at the port. The canes my wife and I made will be made into a plate design we picked. These projects Michelle's team work on at the close of tourist season the end of Oct., have not received it to date. This was one of the best excursions we experienced, we were on a great Glacier Bay Holland American 7 day Alaska Cruise.See more..
5.0Studio G: Paint & Sip(1 review) - An atmosphere you won't want to leave! Spent 1-2 hours Paint & Pottery Studios • Lessons & Workshops
I was looking for a little something "extra" to give my partner for Christmas. Instead of something cheesy like flowers or chocolates, I knew my partner would enjoy getting out of the house and doing something together. Studio G offered me the perfect gift opportunity. We booked an early morning (10a-12p) paint & sip class w/ Rita Yussman who turned out being a local award-winning artist for her work on Kentucky Derby posters, etc. Additionally, the theme of our painting was "Uncorked," which would compliment the kitchen my partner had been working so hard on lately (bourbon/wine theme). Pamela, the owner, couldn't have been nicer. Between Pam & Rita, our mimosa glasses were never empty, there weren't any awkward dull moments of silence, we weren't ever "waiting for the next step," etc. Did I mention that the studio looked amazing? We just had a great time and it felt great to be out and enjoy ourselves in an intimate, personal environment. All together, the bill was $90 for two hours of personalized painting with our instructor and bottomless mimosas. Had it been later in the day, we probably would have opted for bourbon or a bottle of wine. We will certainly be back! I highly recommend.See more..
