4.5Pioneer Playhouse(77 reviews) - Lovely night under the stars Theaters
I have had season tickets for three years and plan on doing it again for the 2015 season. Great night out for family, friends or couples. I prefer sitting outside but sometimes Mother Nature doesn't cooperate and they move the play inside. You will pay a bit more than a typical night at the movies, but this is a live play and I have loved every production. Snacks and drinks are available for $1.00. They now serve glasses of wine (about time) and a few select beers.See more..
3.5Movie Tavern(69 reviews) - A Great Theater Experience Spent 2-3 hours Movie Theaters
My daughter and I visited for the first time a few nights ago. The seats are very comfortable. The theater seems clean. We ordered pizza from our seats and had it arrive a few minutes later. The staff was relaxed and friendly. I thought the prices for tickets and food were very good. The theater was in a nice area. We felt safe and enjoyed our time there. (We sat in the third row and I felt like it was too close. I would probably sit farther back next time.) Overall I would recommend this theater and will probably visit again next time we are in Lexington.See more..

5.0Historic State Theater Complex(37 reviews) - Saw The acoUstiKats and J.D. Shelburne in two concerts at The State Monday: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Theaters
Opening as a movie house in 1942, the State Theater was the hub of social activity in Hardin County for 40 years. After showing its final film, "E.T.", in 1982, the building languished as an empty eyesore for nearly 20 years. However, because Elizabethtown and Hardin County is a community that cares, the State Theater has been fully restored to reflect its original 1942 construction but with modern amenities. The State Theater is now host to not only classic movies, but live concerts, comedy shows, theatrical productions and more. In addition, The State Theater complex now includes a full service banquet room and is also home to the Hardin County Playhouse which performs inside the black-box style Plum Alley Theater. Come see for yourself why the State Theater has once again become the highlight of downtown Elizabethtown.See more..

4.0The Southgate House Revival(19 reviews) - Award for the best repurposing of an old church Spent 2-3 hours Concerts • Theaters • Theatre & Performances
This is the most interesting venue that I have ever seen. Not sure if the church's founders would be proud that their creation is still be used for this or not but it is a great music venue. Came here for Ironfest an event to memorialize a local legend Iron Mike that is put on every year here. This venue is perfect for this with their 3 stages - The Revival Stage upstairs - The Lounge Stage just inside the side door, which is the main entrance and the Sanctuary Stage in main body of the church. The old pipe organ in still in there and really adds to the ambiance of this venue. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. But its the setting that makes this place and is worth seeing in its own right. If you get a chance check this place out you won't be disappointed.See more..

3.5Preston Crossings 16(14 reviews) - Better on weekdays. Spent 1-2 hours Movie Theaters I’m giving this theater more love on a weekday when the crowds are smaller and there are more seats to choose from. Also the matinees on Monday’s and Tuesdays are cheaper with a rewards card from them. $11.66 for two people is inexpensive and they have reclining seats. Weekends are much more crowded so avoid if you can.See more..
We saw Dweezil Zappa play. The theater is fantastic. A standing only area in front of the stage. Then elevated table seating looking over the people standing. Then an elevated area behind the tables for standing. Two great cash bars and clean rest rooms. Very, very nice small venue for concerts. A lot of free nearby (less than a block) parking. Very safe area. It also has local dining places. We drove 75 miles to get there and will do it again.See more..

3.5Showtime Cinemas(10 reviews) - Snack prices! Movie Theaters Someone forgot to tell the manager they make their money selling popcorn and drinks for ridiculous prices. 4.5Franklin Drive-In Theatre(9 reviews) - Such a fun experience! Spent More than 3 hours Movie Theaters
We're local and enjoy visiting this drive-in theatre. Pricing is reasonable, concessions are decent, bathrooms are okay. The overall experience you get of enjoying a movie this way is priceless. If you plan on sitting outside the vehicle, maybe bring a portable radio so you can hear well. Management has fixed the issue of open hatchbacks blocking views by going around and making everyone tie them down so they can still be open yet not block the view. You really get good bang for your buck by staying for two features. Also, if you have kids, they can play in the grassy front area with everyone so bring some outdoor toys (soccer ball, football, catch game, etc.) and make some new friends! I do recommend early arrival as traffic lines up before the gates open and sometimes they open the gates early!See more..
The theatre itself is closed but the city of Horse Cave has a walking tour (via cell phone - you type in the number of the stop and hear information/history about that stop) and the theatre is one of them. At the Kentucky Repertory Theatre stop, you will hear information about the theatre and its history. The site is right next to the American Cave Museum & Hidden River Cave so it's not a total loss. There are also a number of attractions in the area including Kentucky Down Under, and the Mammoth Cave attractions are only a few exits away.See more..

Not only is it cheap to get in ($7/adult and children under 5 are free!), you get to see two films and the concessions don't cost an arm and a leg!!See more..

5.0Cinemark Theatres(4 reviews) - Great response to an oversight Theaters We booked a private theater for a showing of Goonies and were excited to get back into a theater. My spouse and I were the first to arrive in order to understand the theater's practices and to help organize our people when they arrived. It was obvious that the theater staff weren't yet into their "groove" as different staff responded with different answers to the same question but everyone was polite. When I walked into the theater and discovered it wasn't clean I informed management and they were quick to personally respond. Not only did they immediately tidy up the room they offered an explanation that made sense. You can't ask for any more than what they did to correct an oversight. Their response allowed us to focus on being together and enjoy the evening after being shut up for so long.See more..
