Nestled in a wooded area between Beaver Dam and Rosine, KY, you will find a lovingly restored home, and a group of devoted volunteers dedicated to preserving this rich history of home grown music, while celebrating the life and legacy of its founder, Bill Monroe. As we made our way through the home, our knowledgeable tour guide, Faye, kindly shared stories of the family, the original farm and Bill’s early days as a child. As we sat in the swing on the front porch, it was easy to envision a shy little boy hiding out underneath, trying to escape being picked on by family and neighbors. So, if you are traveling I-165, and find yourself about half way between Bowling Green and Owensboro, you are just minutes from this historic site. Historic Cobblestone Path image
After we do everything we want to do in a new town, we spend some time just driving around looking for interesting things. That's how we came across this old cobblestone path. Of course we had to stop to check it out. We learned in 1785 it was the main road into Bardstown and in 1792 it became a military road. The fact that it has survived all this time is just amazing. It isn't that easy to walk on but we were walking on history so the few stumbles/slips didn't bother us. Even if you don't want to walk down/up the path it's still worth checking out in my opinion. Old Richardsville Road Bridge image
My husband and I were visiting Bowling Green and toured the downtown area as well as some of the historic places. The Old Richardsville Road Bridge was recommended as a beautiful place to take photos. The bridge was built in 1889 by the King Iron Company of Cleveland, Ohio. According to available information, it is one of the last bridges of its. kind. It is a span bowstring, arch truss bridge that spans 138.1 ft. and runs across the Barren River. Currently, it is closed except for foot traffic. However, it is suggested that you precede at your own risk. The Old Richardsville Road Bridge was inducted into the National Register of Historic Places in November of 1980. The residents are aware of the supernatural force surrounding the landmark and there are many versions of the tale. You can check them out on the website. See more..

The front of our building is a two-story red brick structure that once served as the jailer's residence. The rear of our building is a grey stone block jail with three very high windows that face west and east. We are located across from the local Post Office, beside the County Sheriff's department, and on opposite corners from the new County Court House. See more..
