We came for mini-golf (clean, fun theme shapes) and stayed to go horseback trail riding. The staff was amazing from the sales counter to the stables. It was our kids’ first time riding and the trail heads made sure they were comfortable and felt safe. All though nervous at the start they were all smiles for our hour trip. Two-hour riding lessons are available year-round at First Farm Inn for both B&B guests and those who aren't staying with us. Call to make a reservation. Lessons begin with grooming and getting acquainted with your horse. We tack up, mount safely and correctly, then begin in the riding arena, working on basic commands and getting comfortable with your horse. After you have demonstrated control and respect for your horse, we move out and practice riding through the woods and around the farm. Horses can be unpredictable. By coming to the farm, you accept responsibility and all liability for your experience on the ground or riding. First Farm Inn horses are a colorful assortment of breeds and personalities that will be matched as much as possible to your personality and physical attributes. It's a very individual experience, no more than five riders in each lesson. I cannot say enough good things about this place place. The property was absolutely beautiful, the horses were so well behaved and trained, and our tour guide John was just a sweetheart. So friendly and knowledgeable and made sure we were comfortable on the horses before setting out on the trail. My horse was Eclipse, an 18 yr old mare, and she was an absolute baby doll. "Captain" was my daughter's horse and was equally a gentleman. John took great care in placing us with the right horse. The trail was beautiful and peaceful, and John regaled us with some of the history of the property. I seriously could have ridden all day. The prices were more than reasonable also.
