We were at the Falls during February when they were frozen. It was beautiful. We returned last weekend to see them in spring. They were very impressive. There is a walking path that goes to the top of the falls forxa really nice view. The surrounding park has picnic tables, bathrooms and lots of open space for recreation. Parking is good but on a really busy day it will fill up quick. There is no admission fee to vehicles with Connecticut plates. Well worth a trip especially when there is plenty of water coming over the falls. See more..

This visual treat is off the beaten path but on a main road in West Granby Connecticut. We had anticipated a much longer hike, however just off the parking lot, the trail leads only a short distance to see the river and some of the smaller falls along the path. The length of the hike and back to the parking lot takes no time at all. If you choose to stay on the well-maintained path, and get some of the views from a slight distance, this is not a rigorous activity although walking shoes/sneakers are advised. If you opt to climb down the steep rocks at the most picturesque portion of the falls, to get that “money shot “, be prepared to do a little rock climbing, jumping, shimmying along narrow ledges, etc. Great activity for all ages, Definitely worth the trip up to Granby. This is not an easy one to find. It is at a dead end road next to a private residence. There is a closed gate that blocks the unpaved road and you hike up that road. Make sure to hang to the right and pass the fields you will stay to the right and keep walking. You will come to a clearing and when you do follow the right side till you go back into the woods. Then just a short few steps you will be at the falls. Its in the middle of no where so bring hiking boots and bug spray and water. To get to the bottom of the falls is very risky and rock/muddy. At the bottom you will find a small shallow basin and then a small stream. It's very peaceful. The next stop would have been the Hawk Ridge Winery but we ran out of time. So if you are reading this start early and be prepared to get lost a few times as many of these falls are not marked. This was a fun adventure and will take about 6 hrs if not more. But well worth it. See more..

This is a gem of a waterfall that is just tucked away from the road. You have to park on the side of the road and look hard for the narrow trail that is a bit overgrown. In a minute you can hear the falls and it is worth the trip to see them. Across the street is another little falls with a large stone that states it is Knife Shop Dam from the 1800's. See more..

So a small group of us did the wine and waterfall tour of CT and this was the first stop. There aren't really any signs we saw for the falls or any signs for parking. At one time this was private land until a wonderful widow left the falls and the surrounding forest to the state of CT, so I have been told. I took a pic of the broken tree and if you find that then there is a small parking spot for a car. You can hear the falls from that tree. Walk into the woods and follow the trail to the top of the falls. There are two small falls at the top and if you slowly walk down and follow the water you will even see a bigger falls. I think it's like three pieces of a one big waterfall, which I loved. Next we went to a winery in Goshen. See more..
