    On a fall clear day this little ride on a steam train and then onto a narrated river cruise is just the "ticket" ;) My friend and I started at Gillette Castle first and then on to the train/boat cruise which is a perfect combo. The views are stunning from the Castle home and well worth visiting. Downtown Essex for lunch in between is also well worth it. Enjoy, fellow travelers. See more..

    Take a step back into history aboard our trains as they depart from the historic 1881 Thomaston Station in Thomaston, CT. The Railroad Museum of New England is an all volunteer run organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of New England's railroading history through the operation of scenic train rides on the Naugatuck Railroad as well as displays located inside and around the 1881 Thomaston Station. Come ride through the beautiful Naugatuck River Valley, over rivers and across hillsides, on one of our many train offerings. Seasonal trains include the Easter Bunny Express in the spring, Chocolate Decadence trains in the spring and fall, Pumpkin patch trains in the Fall, and Santa Express and Northern Lights Limited trains in the winter.
