We were very lucky that we timed our visit to the church when we did. The organist, James Wetherald was practising pieces on the organ. When we walked in and saw the huge and stunning glass windows together with the sound of the organ, it was a bit overwhelming, to the point that I'll never forget it. To top it off, James gave us a little history lesson on this very unusual and architecturally significant church. Not to be missed!See more..

I was out for my daily walk and decided to stop in to relive childhood memories. As a little boy I always remembered visiting the shrine on Easter. My parents would bring us every year. It was very serene. A peaceful walk with plenty of benches to sit under the trees and enjoy some shade. As I walked around and looked at the sights it brought back great memories. There were plenty of places to light a candle and say a prayer or two. No festival this year but always time to say a prayer. There is no fee associated with your visit just be respectful to others who may be visiting. See more..

4.5St. Stanislaus Church(3 reviews) - Very classic old church Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
Attended mass heer and the service itself was inspiring. The church has a very classic 50's look to it, with more modern but still beautiful stained glass windows. What makes it special and would appeal to anyone interested in art are the icons written by Marek Czarnecki. His has painted several larger ones and twelve the apostles on the pillars of the church and these are exceptionally beautiful. Worth a visit to this church just to see these.See more..

1.0Most Holy Trinity Church(1 review) - I was baptized in church way back in the 1950's. Churches & Cathedrals This was a church I grew up with. Its a blend of the old and the new. Its been remolded a few times, but the things that are really important like the statuary, and stations of the cross are still there. It was very nostalgic to attend Mass here, and a bit emotional as both my mothers parents gad their funerals here, 1976, and 1993 respectively, so it was emotional. still it was good to be home. 5.0Our Lady of Lourdes Church(1 review) - Beautiful Grotto Church Churches & Cathedrals You have to travel far and wide to visit a church like this one. Once you enter, you'll be stunned by the amount of art and architecture inside. The central attraction is the main altar, made entirely out of brass (as befits its status in Waterbury, the Brass City). In front of the altar, one can step down a few steps to the grotto, reminiscent of the grotto at Lourdes, France. You won't believe you are actually in Waterbury!!! Stunning, beautiful.See more..

3.0Saint Mark the Evangelist Church(1 review) - Quite a Nice Small Village Parish Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
Saint Mark’s is a comfy little church in West Hartford, handy to Farmington where the Toos had spent the night. Perched at the top of a hill with an enormous parking lot, the red brick building with sparkling white trim is silhouted to great advantage. Currently, Sunday Mass is celebrated only at 10:30AM. Be sure to check with one of the online mass time providers, as this is obviously subject to change. The church interior is fresh and new looking with spacious pews and modern decor. The choir is exceptional, and our celebrant handed off the homily to a visiting priest who did a scholarly and memorable job. All in all, St Mark’s is just exactly what a neighborhood parish should be. We found our visit very much on the inspiring side.See more..
