I have had only WONDERFUL experiences at Longshore Sailing School. The staff is well-trained, friendly and informative. Every kayak I've rented is always in great shape. The location is beautiful and if you love being on the water, you are in for a treat. The boundaries within which LSS requires you to stay are not at all restrictive and the staff makes sure you know what they are. I have taken out rentals at LSS dozens of times, and the experience never feels repetitive. Tides, breezes, time of day, and general weather conditions and their interplay make each experience unique and memorable. (It is only good sense to think responsibly and to make yourself aware of those conditions when you are heading out.) It is clear from what I have observed over time is that the kids in the sailing school are having a great time and there is plenty of staff working with each group. LSS is a popular destination so reserve in advance by phone or email, especially on weekends. See more..

Well-organized, lots of fun, people wearing masks. We had a great day. Be warned that at this time the water is very low so you have to get out and walk the canoe over stones a couple times, but its not a big deal. We didn't want to take the van because there are only teeny windows and too many people we didn't know in the midst of a pandemic, so we took two cars, and Mainstream was very helpful in letting us know where to park so we could manage this. So nice to be able to do an activity that's fun, safe, and still exciting without risking your life during a pandemic. Would do it again. See more..
  3. 5.0 Sail-Works (11 reviews)
    - Overnight Sail in Thimble Islands

I emailed Eric with a unique request asking if our group of 2 couples could do an evening sail with dinner on the boat and stay overnight. I fully expected that my idea would be too expensive to make a reality, but Eric responded quickly, and offered a plan to sail to the Thimble Islands, including allowing us to stay alone on his beautiful boat overnight! We moored in a secluded cove at dusk and he guided us through parts of the boat we’d need before riding off in the dinghy to stay with friends. We thoroughly enjoyed Eric’s company but it was very exciting to feel like the boat was ours for a night. It was like a little slice of heaven: eating dinner under the stars listening to music, watching the sun rise, and swimming in the cove in the morning. The whole experience felt serendipitous and we all left wishing for more. Couldn’t recommend sail-works more highly. See more..

Awesome family experience with kids age 13 and 10. Jack, the owner and his family were so kind and helpful. Jack met us at the Metacomet location where we parked our car. We hopped in his van and drove up river to the Strawberry Hill launch area. Our family of four started Kayaking around 5:30pm and reached our destination by 7:30pm. We saw beavers, eagles and got to do some fishing. I recommend bringing water, snacks and wearing water friendly clothes and shoes. There were very few bugs on our kayaking ride but come sundown the mosquitos were out in full force in the parking lot. Cash or Venmo only. Highly recommend Metacomet Tours! We will definitely be coming back with more family and friends. See more..

Brian and Dawn were helpful. Brian instructed us on how to use the pontoon boat and, the steering and features of the boat. The lake is great to visit in the summer. I went with my family the day after labor day. There weren't a lot of other boats out on the water. We all had a wonderful time. I boat would have fit up to 8 people but there were only four of us on the boat. We rented the inter tube and that was a big hit. We all had a great time! Would definitely do it again. See more..

Awesome place to rent a boat! Boats are in great condition, staff is amazing. Getting out was a breeze, we walked right onto our boat and go out on the water in minutes. At the end of the day we pulled to the end of the dock, they parked it for us, and we were off. Best rental experience ever! See more..
