  13. 4.5 Ukrainian Museum and Library (11 reviews)
    - The best kept secret in CT!
Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • Art Museums • History Museums
    Ukrainian Museum and Library image
This is the best kept secret in Connecticut and I strongly encourage a visit! I visited on May 5th and was treated to a 1.5 hour personal tour by Taras Galonzka. In our conversations we learned that his parents and my grandparents were from the same area of eastern Galicia which became part of western Ukraine. The museum, originally built in 1833, is beautiful inside and out. They have rooms full of Ukrainian art, manuscripts, attire, pysanka, furniture, wood carvings, musical folk instruments, etc. Many pieces of art are from the 12th and 13th century. They have several manuscripts that pre-date the printing press by a couple hundred years. Their days and hours of operation are limited and a bit erratic, so call ahead. They hope to open more days and for longer periods of time shortly. Their website is not updated regularly but does have additional information. See more..
