Built in 1840, this lighthouse was the first in the country to be converted to a museum. The unique collection reflects more than 350 years of Stonington's history, including its courageous victory over the British in 1814 at the Battle of Stonington, the life of Venture Smith, an enslaved man who bought his freedom, and intimate portraits by famed photographer Rollie McKenna. Climb the tower for a dramatic view of Long Island Sound and three states - CT, RI & NY. Only $5 for adults; $3 for children. Open Fridays & Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.See more..

On our New England trip, we stopped here to see this beautiful area. It was a little spendy to get in, $30, but worth it. Parking was very easy. It is an easy nice walk to the light house. Beautiful views.See more..
3.0Lynde Point Lighthouse(19 reviews) - Best seen on foot as there is no car access Spent 1-2 hours Lighthouses
This beautiful east coast sentinel is next to a golf course and private homes. Although there is a road that takes you right by the lighthouse, it is a private road, so you are best to park out on Maple Street and walk in. The lighthouse built in 1802 guards the Connecticut River. It is similar to others in Connecticut but perhaps a little more scenic. I've suggested 1-2 hours based on the walk, which is very flat, but if you could drive down the private road, it would only be 15 - 20 minutes.See more..

Used a warm January day to walk the rocks to the lighthouse. The jetty is pretty easy to navigate. Has some cool old school graffiti rock carvings. You can climb down at the end and get right to the lighthouse. Amazing views around. See more..
