  1. 4.5 Two Roads Brewing Company (207 reviews)
    - Must go
    Thursday: 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM Breweries
    Two Roads Brewing Company image
Two Roads Brewing Company was founded in 2012 by four friends who dreamed for years of starting a craft brewery. We foster a “road less traveled” philosophy in the beers we make and how we make them. In that spirit, Phil Markowski, our award-winning Brewmaster and 27 year craft beer veteran has created an extensive lineup that takes a unique twist on classic beer styles. Two Roads was named one of the ten best breweries in America by Paste Magazine and has won many awards including gold for Belgian Lambic style Ale in 2016 at the Great American Beer Festival. Two Roads isn’t just the logo on our brewery building, it’s our philosophy. Life always seems to offer up two ways to go. It just so happens, we prefer the one less taken and having some fun along the way – in our lives, our careers and especially for our beers! Now our “road less traveled” philosophy is being brought to life in the beers that we create and how we create them. See more..
  2. 4.5 Stony Creek Brewery (161 reviews)
    - Regular stop when in CT
    Spent 1-2 hours Breweries
    Stony Creek Brewery image
Hubby and I discovered this gem on our way back to NJ after a weekend getaway in CT. I wish I knew there was food available and we wouldn't have settled for stopping at a diner first. When we arrived we saw that you could order burgers, fries, etc. from Munchies food truck. But I digress. We came here for the beer! Had a flight with Crum, Imperial Stony Joe, Snow Hole, and 922 Export Stout. All of them were drinkable but the two standouts were Joe and Crum. Joe was offered in 16 oz bottles to go and we also got a crowler of Crum. The brewery itself is in a great space that I can only imagine is packed on a warm, sunny day as it's right on the river and there appears to be ample seating outside. I could've spent a few hours inside enjoying the beer, food, and the two-man band playing chill music but had to get back on the road. We will return to Stony Creek now that we found it. See more..

  4. 4.0 Thimble Islands Brewing Company (67 reviews)
    - Nice menu of beers
    Thursday: 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Breweries
    Thimble Islands Brewing Company image
Had a nice experience here. The first room when you enter was very crowded and I initially thought I wouldn't necessarily be comfortable given the circumstances, but then I was pointed to the second room which was much more spacious with tables plenty far apart for safety. For food, there was a truck outside with basics (quesedilla, burgers, hot dogs) so that you could have food, meet the state requirements, and not spend a ton of money. There was an extensive menu of other snacks and brewery items as well. Had a couple of delicious beers - very good stop! See more..
  5. 4.5 Powder Hollow Brewery (64 reviews)
    - Great stop on the CT Beer Trail!
    Spent 1-2 hours Breweries
    Powder Hollow Brewery image
So, I might be partial because my family roots are deep in Eastern Kentucky...Hazard anything feels close to home! But this was a welcomed stop on our CT beer trail day. After a less than welcoming welcome at the previous stop, the staff here were friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in the door. Even though a part was setting up at 4:30, they told us to have a seat and just be warned that we might get the boot if we stay too long. The bar staff were helpful and knowledgeable and didn't rush our flight choices even though it was a packed house. Good beers! Do the Hop Hazard DIPA. Excellent! A flight of four was $7. No food. Relaxed vibe and the decor matches their persona. Cool stop. See more..

  10. 4.0 Kinsmen Brewing (32 reviews)
    - Parker says "Noisy brew space in a nicely reconfigured old factory."
    Thursday: 3:00 PM - 10:00 PM Breweries
    Kinsmen Brewing image
This place is literally on an old country road, but fairly accessible to I-84 and other major highways. It is a huge factory space that has been nicely redone, but the parking lot is in really bad shape. Bar service is friendly but a bit hard to get during busy times, which seems to be all the time. It is noisy and crowded, with an inordinate amount of people walking around all the time. So if you're looking for intimate dining or a place to have conversation of magnitude, this isn't it. But that aside, the beer is very good....not Euro standard but good when compared to American. Pizza is average plus...if we were down South, I'd say very good, but this is Connecticut, so the bar is really high. They don't skimp on the toppings, but the overall pizza experience could use a little work, especially considering that they are a step-child of one of the best pizza joints in Waterbury. If you like this venue, this is a place to check out for sure. See more..
  11. 4.5 Stubborn Beauty Brewing (30 reviews)
    - Quality Beers and Cider plus it's Very Clean
    Thursday: Breweries
    Stubborn Beauty Brewing image
We thoroughly enjoyed our stop at Stubborn Beauty. It is in an old mill as is another brewery and a cidery. There is seating inside and outside. They offer a good variety and include a guest cider. My husband likes double IPA's and I have grown to like some ciders. That day, the cider was berry and it was awesome. There is adequate parking. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. It's handicap accessible. Seating inside includes some barrels with stools. As they bow out, there's a good chance you leg may rub against it. Wear dark colors or avoid the barrels. See more..

Good choices of beer. We tried the Helles, the Stout and the Brown Ale. All really good. These choices had body, taste and nice finish. Guy behind the bar was great and personable. Will be returning when next in the area. Hope that they are able to put in an inside toilet soon as it is not really pleasant going to the porta potty in the parking lot. Besides that, the interior is great and comfortable. Nice deck to sit out on. See more..

    Breweries
    Relic Brewing Company image
This is a hidden gem even if you live in town. It is in an old industrial park on Whiting Street just past the corner convenience store but set back from the road. The owner is amazingly knowledgeable about beer and all spirits, a true aficionado. There is a great selection of beers and ales, typically 12-16 on tap. They have increased the facility to give much more space to to sit and socialize. They have multiple wines and ciders but best of all they have 650+ whiskeys to taste (perhaps the largest selection in New England!)! When I have been there we have brought in outside food. A fun place and very casual. You can learn a lot here from the owner and staff. See more..

May 20th: We took a hike throughout the property as the morning unfolded. We were with a group hiking and the trails proved hikers in a group could kibitz as they hiked. When we finished hiking we took to hole 18 trying our luck at frisbee golf. On the 3rd try we developed technique and flaggingly confidence to come back and try again. I will use any excuse/reason to return! The capstone was sitting on their outside terrace to enjoy some good burgers and wonderful adult beverages. Our server suggested "Birthday" and then asked who was driving. They know their beverages and ask you to behave responsibly. One burger, one beer, and 4 to go! See more..

    Labyrinth Brewing Company image
Great old mill building with tons of exposed brick and cool woodwork. They often have food trucks and the one's I tried have all been excellent. If you're not into food trucks they are about half a mile from Main St. with a bunch of other food options. Some days/nights they have live music and I think they have bar trivia one night as well. They are definitely dog friendly and do a bunch of fund raising events as well as an occasional theme night. In addition to their beer they also have a variety of wine and cider. They are a good place to have events and will let you get catering if you arrange it up with them in advance. We had Lucky Taco cater my girlfriends birthday and it went very smoothly. If I had a complaint it might only be that the parking can be a bit tight when it gets busy I guess. Great spot I highly recommend. Keep up the great work Labyrinth! See more..
