Visited from our cruise ship. Very small place with lovely scenery but limited activities. IMO your best bet is to hike the short nature trails and take the cable car up the mountain for more hiking and scenic views. Would have loved to have done the seated zip line but not at 170 USD for one ride! We had prebooked the bear watch to the river combined with the whale watch and at around 250 USD each it wasn't worth it. We didn't see any bears and found out later that sightings here are rare. The whale watch was OK but we only saw a couple. There is much better whale watching at Juneau and Seward.See more..

We arrived to Kaktovik on the second week of September to see the polar bears. By Sunny kindly help, we booked a year ahead 5 tours. Sunny was patient to all our requests and organized for us the perfect package for our needs. Jack and Steve were professional guides with a sense of humor and a lot of patience. They gave us warm clothes and navigate the boat to all the places that the bears were. Steve told us a lot about polar bears and their way of life. Before we booked the tours we afraid of the cold weather and the open boat but in the end, it was an advantage! We walked freely on the boat and has a 360-degrees angle for taking pictures. Setting up the hunt was easy from the start working with Misty. She sent us recommended gear lists which made things simple if you're bringing your own camping gear. The contract was straight forward and if I had any questions she was always happy to answer questions or put me in touch with one of the other members of the team. Upon arrival to their base camp we were immediately given an update on fly times and what to expect as far as weather. The pilots were incredible and very informative. Arrowhead Outfitters went above and beyond when a piece of equipment got left on the shore. Outstanding group of people and our group cannot wait to do another fly-in hunt through them.See more..
The museum is a hidden gem in Kasaan filled with one of a kind items. The hosts, Bonnie and Stormy, provide an excellent tour and one-on-one, explanation of the unique Haida collection. The family are all artists and there is opportunity to purchase some amazing items. This is a “don't miss” experience in Kasaan, we highly recommend it!See more..
