   We really enjoyed our visit to Tundra huskies. We received a very friendly welcome and short but effective safety briefing. The huskies were raring to go and it was really fun both driving and being driven in the sled. We did the 5km trip and it flew by- if you can stand the cold and spare the extra money I would consider going for 10km, especially if that one gives more time on the lake path which was stunning. We loved meeting the dogs after the ride and then warming up in the hut with the berry juice and sausages. Even a couple of reindeer to feed aswell which was a bonus. We all loved our tundra husky experience. Like most activities in Levi it is pricey, but it was hugely memorable and worthwhile. See more..

   We did two tours a 6k and 20k with Hetta Huskies and were extremely happy afterwards. Carla is a great guide who visibly loves the dogs. The dogs are well taken care of and seem very happy. They gave us information about the dogs and their life in the arctic and they all know them 'personally' which is quit impressive considering they have 182 dogs. We had a wonderful time!    It was a great experience! First of all, we had booked for 1th of February but because the sky was so cloudy the company changed the tour for the 2th of the month, which I found really responsible. On 2th the sky was so clear and we went with Ivan, our guide, to a 4.30 hours tour, instead of 3 that the programm was. We saw aurora at all places, but the 4th spot at the end of the tour was the best one and we will never forget it in our lives. We also had berry juice and cookies.    We have just done the 4 days/3 nigbts sliding snowshoeing/ski altaï trip in Phya Luosto and came back with full stars in the eyes. We REALLY enjoyed every second of it as everything was planned perfectly. Sampo and Inessa our 2 guides were friendly, kind and very attentive to all our needs. We were not experienced in ski and winter camping but definitely managed to do the trip that was reaching all our expectations. Sampo was so experienced in wilderness surviving and explained lot of very interesting tricks. We HIGHLY recommended this trip if you want to experienced something unique and more than just a touristic tour. You have easy walking routes coming to the border and then short and longer snowshoeing trail.     About a 25 - 30 minute drive from Saariselkä. Road conditions aren't bad in the winter unless a storm is coming then no one is going anywhere. Easy to find. Best experience we had on our Lapland trip. Dog sledding is super fun, can be challenging, and the dogs were very friendly. This place only accepts 8 ppl max on the tour. We had 7 ppl. Keeping it small makes for a better experience. The guide was super friendly and answered all our questions. We enjoyed it so much we ended up buying up what felt like half their souvenirs. They had Kuplika, beanies, sweaters patches, dog treats. We did the 4hr tour. About 2-3hrs of dog sledding which was optimal for 2 ppl rotating on the sled. I don't think I would have wanted more or less time. Recommend: 4hr Tour 10am to 2pm. The lighting was perfect. See more..

    Our family of two adults and two kids (age 5 and 7), truly enjoyed our snowmobile trip on Jan 2nd 2022. We opted for the 30km ride, with a pitstop at a reindeer farm. At the reindeer farm, we had the chance to do a sledge ride, pulled by reindeers. That was a big hit for the kids. At the farm, we also got some hot beverages before driving back towards Levi. The excellent guide had a heated pod connected to his snowmobile, where our kids sat during the ride. The pod was comfortable for the kids and heated in a way that they could sit without glows and so on. My wife and I drove a snowmobile each. It was the first time for both of us, but with the initial guidance from the guide, we found it super easy and comfortable. The overall experience lasted for about four hours. See more..

    We went on a trip they advertised to a sacred place of the Sami. The lake and the forest with the rocks and creek with bridge and outlooks were stunning in the snowy condition. It was a rather easy walk uphill on a well maintained path to a Kota on a place with a great view. We had a great guide that told us lots of interesting things about the nature we walked through and made us a great fire with good food and drink. We made arrangements by e-mail which worked very well and you get great value (fun, ride, equipment, guiding and food) for money.     This was one of the most special travel experiences we’ve ever had and it’s all due to Tiina and her team at Aurora Holidays (AH). From beginning to end, they were wonderful to work with, handling all of our special requests and details, and we felt extremely welcomed in this special place in the Arctic Circle. Here’s why… Cozy accommodations: Our cottage was amazing. It was spacious, well-supplied, and clean. The beds were very comfortable and plenty of warm bedding was provided. Our favorite part? The sauna of course! We used it every day and loved every minute of it. Delicious meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner prepared by AH were always delicious and we were never disappointed. Everything was really good and we were delighted to try new things. Organized logistics: AH was on top of it. They picked us up at the airport and brought us back again when our trip finished. For each special winter excursion, including those special light chasing moments, we traveled via their comfy and warm vans. During each trip, our view from the van was breathtaking – snowcapped trees, sparkling snow, and ice-covered lakes. Amazing activities: We definitely recommend the husky sledding which was exhilarating. Our ride was so much fun as we were led by six amazing dogs through the snow and it’s one of the best things we ever did. Other great things to do include snowshoeing, hanging out with the reindeer, snowmobiling, king-crab adventure, and more! The Sami museum was very good as well. We appreciated our chill days, too, during when we relaxed in the sauna, went for nice walks, and took time to appreciate the beautiful snowy landscape.     We did a snowmobile safari in the woods with Kari and it was awesome! He showed us different spots, we stopped several times to take pictures and we also went to a frozen lake. He even brought some tea and biscuits so that we could eat them surrounded by nature. Moreover, we forgot a phone in the pocket of the overall and Kari was so kind that he brought it to our hotel.     Having gone on a New Year Adventure Experience with Canterbury travel to Pyha we were looking to add a meeting with Santa to allow our children to thank him for their presents which the travel provider couldn’t help with. Having found them online, Call of the Wilderness did a great job, picking us up from our hotel and setting up a private meeting in a hut in the woods.     We were out for the northern light photo tour by bus on a Friday evening. The tour started perfectly as we were told that we were the only participants so we had our private driver and photographer. The weather conditions were great so we didn’t have to go far to see the impressive Aurora Borealis right above our heads. Our guide (Maria) took many photos with her professional camera which we even received in the same night right after the trip. It was an experience we will never forget and would recommend anytime.     We had a great visit to wild spirit park in Ivalo, it’s definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. It’s not an large place by any means but their are enough to see with Arctic foxes, snow dogs, a wild hog, goats and of course the sledding dogs that you can interact with. We went in early November and while there was snow it wasn’t enough to go sledding. That didn’t effect our overall experience though as the owner was thorough in explaining the stories of each of the animals there. We had a great time and at only a 10 euro donation to visit it’s probably one of the best values as far as experiences go.     Truly amazing experience! You really feel connected with nature during this smooth sled ride pulled by 6 (real) huskies, even though they do not look like the ones from the Disney channel as they are bred for their power and stamina, they are so cute and are made to do this. Afterwards we talked a bit with the guide in his wooden cabin with the open fire and you can really feel that he cares about his dogs.     Rami and his team were fantastic and very welcoming. It was evident that they cared about their huskies and they were natural hosts which made the whole experience amazing for all of us. The weather on our trip was stunning but absolutely freezing (painfully so) meaning we did not wish for more than the 5km and were really glad to retreat to their hut and camp fires!     Visiting a Husky Ranch and riding the sled was just the dream of one of us, but caught us both once we were standing on the sled behind our lovely team of 6 dogs. We didn’t know what to expect, so we were very positively surprised to find ourselves making the dogs ready for our ride - or actually their ride, it felt - and helping Juho with getting ready for the trip. Both Juho and Hanna were super friendly and professional, also the dogs seemed to welcome us most friendly. We think that the dogs can’t have a better place to stay than this farm. Also the atmosphere was very relaxed and calm from the beginning, there was no rush nor pressure on schedule.     Well organised snowmobile experience. Great briefing by Yannick. I never felt, at any point, I didnt know what to do. So beautiful, riding on the frozen river taking in the scenery and wildlife. This experience will live for me forever. It was nice to experience going full speed on these incredible machines. With a bit of respect for the danger, you can have a lot of fun. First of all, the meeting place at the reindeer farm is located in a beautiful area— a real “middle of nowhere” vibe, in the best possible way. My friend and I did the reindeer/ice fishing/snow-shoeing combo. I didn’t see this trio combined by any other outfitter. Petra, our leader, is a real gem. She’s got a fantastic sense of humor and banters effortlessly with her guests. The entire program was perfect— nothing lasted too short or too long. Everything was just the right amount of time.     Amazing service - friendly personal and very helpful. Initially visited for some help with directions to another trip we had booked. The gentleman I saw was so nice - he called a taxi for us as we misjudged how far away the venue was and also tried to call the venue to say we'd be late. We decided to return and hire bikes a few days later and hadn't made a reservation but the same gentleman saw to us and managed to secure the last 3 bikes. This gentleman was so so helpful and showed us a few trails we could follow. Would highly recommend and one of the friendliest places you could go for customer service! Brilliant place.     This is really an unmissable adventure if you are in Finland in the winter. Lauri’s passion for his animals is clear and it is wonderful to just spend time with the huskies even when not sledding. I highly recommend taking a longe trip into Riisitinturi if you can - the change in scenery is breathtaking. Driving a sled is much harder than it looks but great fun to have a go! The dogs are probably used to inexperienced drivers and will see you right! Dress warmly and make sure you cover up with their blanket….     What a great experience. Really enjoyed. We chose this place as it was a local run place that seemed like they really looked after their dogs. And Paulina confirmed this for us during our visit. She was very informative and provided lots of information about the dogs and their routines and their summer plans. It was a thrilling time, being on the sled with the huskies. They provide you with overalls - we wore these over our sallopettes and snow jackets. They also gave us boots and gloves. I would definitely recommend a neck warmer/face covering for this activity as during the husky run, it does get very cold and my eyelashes froze over.     Couple of weeks ago we’ve been snowshoeing for the first time in life in a tour organized by Adventure by Design to Tsahkal lake. And everything was perfect from the very beginning to the end. Our guide was friendly and thoughtful, the lunch in the wilderness hut just perfect, and Gareth kept a relaxed atmosphere with nice talks and jokes on the way up to Tsahkal. The snow shoeing itself was wonderful, we also had the luck of having a sunny day so the view was really breathtaking. On the way back, we experienced a silent walk, a more than welcomed meditation. Funny thing, 20 m away from the final point back, I realized how right was Gareth at the beginning when he said that everybody falls once . Thank you Adventure by Design for this great experience!     Amazing time with wonderful hosts in this winter wonderland! Every day was a different adventure. One day we were sledding, the next taking a husky dogsled ride through a snowy forest and then the next day skiing!     We had a perfect day on the snow mobile I’ve fishing safari with our three children aged 6, 12 and 13. This is a small family run business and it feels very personal, our guide was incredibly friendly and welcoming. It was only the five of us and one couple but this is a small group company and it felt very special. The route for the snowmobiles took us through beautiful forests to the lake and home via the hill view of the sunset. At the lake our host taught us how to drill the ice and fish. He also chatted to our kids while we made a fire on the ice and made us sausages and hot juice. I couldn’t recommend this company more highly. See more..

    We had an amazing family adventure on a snowmobile safari to the Snow Village. Our guide Erik was brilliant really helpful and patient in getting us ready to drive the snow mobiles, great with our little girl who got a little cold getting her hand warmers sorted so she warmed up quickly, and an excellent guide at the Snow Village having helped build it. The snowmobile ride was great fun, with beautiful scenery, we went at a pace that suited us, and had plenty of time to look around the Snow Village before heading back.     The snow igloo experience was amazing. The traditional Finnish sauna and the bath in the frozen lake were experiences we'll never forget.     Our family had a spectacular easter friday outside in lovely weather with Hannu and Reetta. We had some warm drinks, cold drinks and sausages next to the fire. Our toddler had a fun time with their young one while we enjoyed the views and serenity of the nature. Hannu also showed us kite flying which im sure to try next time with skis or a snowboard.     Erwan was a great guide. You can tell he has a lot passion and great knowledge about the nature in Lapland. He was very adaptive and chose the perfect route for my very first snow shoeing hiking.     We had a wonderful 2-hour tour with Juuso. We both have mountainbiking experience but this was our first time riding in the snow. We really enjoyed it! The trails were great and so was our guide. Trails were not technical (at least not in the conditions we encountered them, relatively hard with fresh snow from the night before) but certainly scenic and enjoyable. The track was challenging, the karts have enough power and the staff is great always there to help you when you need but also to prepare the track once it starts getting too bumpy.     This is one of my favorite hiking places in Rovaniemi. It is a hill top of a fell, called Syväsenvaara, from which you can have a panoramic view over the whole city! You can go here by daytime and see the sunset (especially beautiful in winter), but also at night time to see Northern Lights (cause there is no artificial lights). There is also an observation tower, which helps viewing. It is free to attend any time. The hill top is situated right above Santa Park attraction. Do get to the top of the hill, you head up from the parking place – you will see the trail, easy to find. You might rarely bump into some locals there, who are walking their dogs :) See more..
