Wilderness on a close range

As the second biggest National Park in Finland this park offers peace and tranquility just few steps from the center of Saariselkä village. You have easy walking routes coming to the border and then short and longer snowshoeing trail. Short one you can do on any weather but the longer one takes you up on the fjell so you don't want to take that in a bad weather. Skiing tracks are going more deeply inside the park. At the summer hiking routes are going everywhere.

    Out in the wilderness
We stayed in Kiilopää hotel and so we could easily enjoy thus beautiful park in wintertime. Today we climbed the hill. Snow shoes would have made our walk easier, but nevertheless we enjoyed it. The path is very well marked. The views were spectacular and we even saw some reindeers. You could listen to the silence. If you prefer cross country skiing, than this place is great as well. There are many tracks. Ad inexperienced cc skiers we did a tour of 22km, which was a little bit too much. But as the path is illuminated you can take your time. We loved it!

    Activities for the whole family
We've visited UKK in summer and in winter and enjoyed both times. You can do a lot of different activitites hier: hiking, biking, croos country skiing, etc. Views from the hills are wonderful and you can run in to reindeer while there.
