We went to the Zoo during warmer winter days so we were lucky to spot almost all animals. The park is home to ice bear, artic fox, lynx, wolf, owls, Pallas cat, reindeer and many more. You can get to the Zoo by bus from Rovaniemi in less than a hour. There is also Fazer chocolate store in the entrance area. I would recommend you to go in less popular days of week. We booked our “Snowmobile safari to Husky kennel” tour which was a unique combination of snowmobile safari and Husky ride. Our guide Bruce did an excellent job of guiding us throughout the long 1hr ride to husky kennel and the way back for another hour. He patiently explained initially the mechanism of riding the snowmobile. As we were new to this he placed us at the front of queue and continuously kept an eye on everyone. Husky ride was wonderful 25 mins of excitement followed by lunch. We had requested for a vegetarian option (Sandwich, soup, dessert and coffee) which they accommodated. Highly recommend this safari as it covers both rides in one tour including a delicious lunch which works out much more economical than taking the individual rides.See more..

We were 2 couples. Booked the tour in Ivalo. The day we booked tour, few hours before the scheduled time we got a call from the company and they rescheduled it for next night due to bad weather. But being tourist and limited time we did not trusted their word and went with another tour company the same night. That night it snowed and we did not see the lights. It was too late to realise the mistake, we should have trusted northern light riders. Next night we went them and saw the lights. Our guide made extra efforts for us. We saw the lights on two different spots. First was not too good. But the second spot blew our minds. Amazing experience with dancing green and red lights all over sky. It was a great experience! First of all, we had booked for 1th of February but because the sky was so cloudy the company changed the tour for the 2th of the month, which I found really responsible. On 2th the sky was so clear and we went with Ivan, our guide, to a 4.30 hours tour, instead of 3 that the programm was. We saw aurora at all places, but the 4th spot at the end of the tour was the best one and we will never forget it in our lives. We also had berry juice and cookies. We like this 2 hrs snowmobile activity. Though my son only ride in the sleigh (he is only 5 years old) for safety reason. I went on an excursion looking for the Aurora Borealis in nearby woodland and it was the most exhilarating and wonderful experience. I had been wanting to see them for a long time and they were out in their full glory. The leaders were fantastic throughout the trip. They were very knowledgeable and they made me feel very welcome. We were out for the northern light photo tour by bus on a Friday evening. The tour started perfectly as we were told that we were the only participants so we had our private driver and photographer. The weather conditions were great so we didn’t have to go far to see the impressive Aurora Borealis right above our heads. Our guide (Maria) took many photos with her professional camera which we even received in the same night right after the trip. It was an experience we will never forget and would recommend anytime. Notice: nobody can guarantee that you see the Northern lights but we recommend to inform about the geophysical requirements so you can choose the most likely day for your tour.See more..
We started our 3 hour tour meeting in the office next to Holiday Club Saariselkä. We were suited with appropriately warm outer clothing and boots and met our guide. She then drove us to the reindeer farm, where we were introduced to our reindeer Tippy and Purrka(sp?). At our time it was just my husband and I. We each had our own sledge. Tippy, a young reindeer, was very excited and a little over eager to get going. The guide was polite and answered all of our questions. We had hot berry juice and cookies around a fire about half way through our adventure. We ended at the farm where we feed and thanked our reindeer and then enjoyed soup made by the owner, who was so sweet and continued to fill us with more information.See more..

We had an amazing family adventure on a snowmobile safari to the Snow Village. Our guide Erik was brilliant really helpful and patient in getting us ready to drive the snow mobiles, great with our little girl who got a little cold getting her hand warmers sorted so she warmed up quickly, and an excellent guide at the Snow Village having helped build it. The snowmobile ride was great fun, with beautiful scenery, we went at a pace that suited us, and had plenty of time to look around the Snow Village before heading back. The track was challenging, the karts have enough power and the staff is great always there to help you when you need but also to prepare the track once it starts getting too bumpy. None of us had experience skiing, but with the guidance of our guide, Yukka, and countless falls, we gradually got the hang of it. Skiing was truly a workout, never have we felt so warm in freezing temperatures. The activity can be customised to the group’s skiing experience. For our level of experience, we felt the duration of the activity was just right. We also made a pitstop at a husky farm for hot chocolate (payable) and got to see some puppies and sled dogs. (The toilets have no sinks to wash your hands, snow and hand sanitisers were used instead). We ended off the activity with a 400m walk to the carpark, with our skis in tow, and had a nice cup of fruit tea and biscuits in the van. We would like to commend Yukka for his patience and words of encouragement. He made sure everyone had fun while prioritising safety. Overall a very enjoyable experience.See more..

We contacted Wildmaker Lapland for a custom canoeing adventure including a 4 day canoe rental and transportation to and from the starting and ending places. Our trip started at Jerisjärvi and went trough Jerisjoki to Muonio. The route was unkown to us and we are beginners. We got some great info, tips and instructions as well as flexible service. Me and my partner did the Snowmobiling with Lunch, and it was awesome! We were lucky enough to have the guide to ourselves and it felt like such an amazing personalised experience. The guide showed a clear step by step procedure of how to operate the snowmobile. The route that we took for amazing, so much scenery and opportunity to spot wildlife. The guide would stop every so often to talk about any wildlife tracks or to give information regarding the area. She was very knowledgeable and really made the experience special. We stopped in the cabin by the frozen lake for lunch and had delicious food, warm juice and warmed up by the fire. For the price you pay it is definitely worth it as this experience was far better than the big groups the other snowmobiling companies go out with. Would definitely recommend.See more..
We had a fantastic trip, arriving on snow mobiles to be met by the charming young couple who have made their life in a remote dwelling along with their many wolf dogs. We went into the enclosures and were able to meet these beautiful animals face to face. Well worth a visit See more..

I love Luosto. If you want plenty of snow and the feel your in the wilderness, plenty of snow sport and have everything you need for a winter holiday I recommend you go in January after the busy Santa trips in December. Of course if you have younger children say approx 5years to 8 years it is a must just before Christmas to enjoy all those Santa experiences. But if you want a chilled (sorry for the pun) get away in a predominately uncommercial area of Finland then visit Luosto. If I could go again I would leave the kids home, go after Christmas and just enjoy this beautiful winter wonderland.See more..

The team at this farm has a true passion for Husky's and it shows. An amazing group of dogs housed in isolated kennels, which is obviously more needed in snow-times than during this July visit. We were welcomed warmly and instructions were clear and easy to follow. And then the dogs!!!! We didn’t quite know what to expect but we were fully informed on how to sit on the sleigh and even more exciting was we were instructed on how to drive too. We had a 11km ride through the most glorious place - forest swamp and frozen lake, swapping over half way through. The five dogs in pulling us all had unique personalities and were really fascinating to watch. We all loved it and would absolutely rate it as something you must not miss. See more..
We had a fantastic experience with O’nordic! We spent an amazing day with the doggies, they are all very cute! The sleight ride was amazing and the snowshoeing with the puppies was very funny. Spending some time with them, hugging and petting them is an experience that I will hardly forget soon. Mailys is very nice and caring. She organized everything in detail, making all the experience as a real “Finnish experience”. I found Sea Song Travel Agency pretty much by accident on line when looking for a company that could work with me following the end of our Orient Express Trip from Paris to Istanbul in August 2022 (see separate review), We had been in Turkey many times but had never made it to Cappadocia which I had always wanted to visit. We booked a snowmobile tour during the day. It was a great journey in the middle of the wilderness. We got to 600mt on the hills behind Sallatunturi and the scenery was breathtaking. The tour was 3 hours long with many small break along the way where the tour guides made sure everybody was fine with driving and vehicle. We had the opportunity to take many pictures about snowy trees and the shapes the snow and ice can produced are unbelievable. Looks like to be in an enchanted, sleepy woods where all creatures and trees are sleeping. We then stop by around the fire for a 30 min break. The guides offered us a hot Chocholate, tea or coffee plus a warm sandwiches. Before leaving on the snowmobile overalls, boots, warm hats are provided in case you want to feel warmer. In our cases we were at -16 during the day. So additional layers was needed. We travelled with our daughters: 5 and 7. For them a covered trailers has been arranged. So they really did not feel cold and enjoyed the experience. Overall we really recommend this tour: professional, long, safe and the scenery was amazing. One only point of improvement: The guides could be more talkative and providing a few information about the place, the animals, any story they could share to entertain. We rented a canoe and equipment from Sampsa & Lauri, booked transportation with them and spent a few nights in their wonderful cabin. The whole family was extremely hospitable and friendly and everything just worked perfectly. They even picked us up when we had to change our plans unexpectedly and took us to another paddling destination. The cabin was very cosy with an amazing sauna and they offered us great home made food. All in all they offered awesome and very friendly service and we felt really welcome: we can't recommend LAP Adventures highly enough and might come back ourselves anytime!See more..
