This was my favorite part of our trip to Lapland (on a 3 day tour with Cantebury). My only complaint is that I wish we had been able to stay a bit longer. We were lucky to have had our sleigh ride coincide with sunrise and the views were just breathtaking. It was straight out of a fairytale. After our ride, we were treated to a little talk about the life of reindeer farmers and some hot berry juice. Because we were on a tight time frame, we didn't have much time to feed and see the reindeer as I would liked but that is understandable since there was a lot on the agenda. This part of the tour was my favorite part of the trip - a truly memorable experience that was both beautiful and fascinating. See more..

We came to the farm with Nordic Adventures. We met Marie, the extremely kind owner, passionate about her job. We were able to take a sleigh ride in the middle of the snowy forest, then we went to see the reindeer and feed them to approach them from meadows. Marie answered all our questions over a hot drink and cookies. We spent 1h30 at the farm. We were very lucky because there were only 3 of us due to the sanitary situation. Santa´s Pet Farm is situated on ski and activity center Levi on a historic farm just 2km from the main centre. We are open from 11am to 5pm. We are a place to visit for all the family! We have 12 different animal species and over 30 animals, including Jekku our very sociable reindeer! Santa Claus comes to stay at the farm for a few weeks around Christmas, and you can visit him in his cottage then. See more..

I went on the tour “Feel the Pure Nature” with Pauliina and had the best time. She was very educated and I leant so much from her! I always love it when I can have fun and learn something along the way. She took me to a new area which was incredible. We foraged for lots of mushrooms and at the end of the tour we found so many berries in a different locations. It was so lovely to leave behind the city and just be within the forest, surrounded by nature. I would 100% recommend this tour. See more..

Tsahkal Falls (also known as Tsahkalputous and Cahkaljohka) is a series of small waterfalls which are 0.5-3 meters high. So they are small but very beautiful. Tsahkal Falls are situated near the bridge on the hiking route between Saana Fell and Luontotalo (Kilpisjarvi Visitor Centre). However, it is easiest to get there from the village shop of Kilpisjärvi (K-Market Kilpishalli) and restaurant Ravintola Kilpis. You can leave your car at the parking place of the village shop (address Käsivarrentie 14219). A path of Kalottireitti Trail to Halti begins next to the parking place (between the parking place and Urpiaisentie Street). Follow this path 1 kilometer and you will find Tsahkal Falls. I and my teenage son loved Tsahkal Falls very much. They are easy to visit and very beautiful. See more..

Perheen kanssa kävimme kotieläinpuistossa, saapuessamme saimme kahvin kanssa herkutella lämpimät munkit, jotka olivat suussa sulavia. Osa eläimistä kulki vapaasti alueella, joka riemastutti aikuisia sekä lapsia. Erikoisin eläin taisi olla musta kana. Plussaa oli myös alueella olevat pomppulinnassa ja leikkikentät. Viihdyimme 5 tuntia alueella.

We came across the hike when we passed by with our car, decided to try the route. It takes you up the hill with the stairs, after that it is a long walk in the forest, because it got dark soon we could only do a part of the route. This is also the reason we can not judge the entire route, but the trees are marked with orange so the trail is easy to follow. See more..

As the trail thru the reserve is 12 km long, I would strongly recommend a boat trip to the Border point and then a hiking trip thru the nature reserve. As you are not allowed to make an open fire in the area, do remember to take enough food and water with you. Walking takes about 5 to 6 hours, and the views are splendid nearly all the time, and the trail is mostly in good condition. Some parts have a very rough terrain and steep climbs. The trail is clearly marked, so it is hard to get lost. An especially nice place to stop is Kitsiputous Falls at about 6 km from both directions. If you are in the neighbourhood and have a day to spend, this is an excellent place. See more..

Pulju wilderness area is one of my favourite places to visit in Lapland. It is less known and less visited than places like Kaldoaivi, Lemmenjoki National Park and UKK National Park, but that doesn’t take away the beauty of Pulju. Pulju wilderness area has so much to see, but Puljutunturi fell and its lean-to shelter is a good place to start. The Puljutunturi lean-to shelter by a little Varkaanvaaranjärvi lake is located less than 2 kilometers from the road, in midway to Puljutunturi. The trail is relatively easy, ascending gradually to Varkaanvaara hill and providing nice views behind your back to the Pulju wilderness area. See more..
