We booked with Mia, the owner, at very short notice. We had a spare day in Pyha and sent her a message having found a small reference to her farm in Lonely Planet. I'm so glad we did. From the very first email Mia was lovely and very welcoming. We booked a private horse ride for the next day. Mia's farm is charming and easy to get to from the main road between Pyha and Kemijarvi. As we drove into the farm there were two reindeer chilling in the snow. We rounded a corner and met Mia who welcomed us to her farm with open arms and carried us away in her passion for Finnish horses. Mia introduced us to our rides for the day and we set out into a snow covered winter forest where she pointed out various animal tracks and gave us a little history. Such a fabulous experience, I highly recommend booking with Mia and will visit again on our next trip! Especially if her exciting plans come to fruition :) Thanks Mia!See more..
We all had a lovely time! The route took us through a beautiful snowy forest, before we circled around the edge of a majestic frozen lake. Our amazing guide, Kopi, was incredibly informative and friendly, whilst he took us through his family forest, as well as camping out around a fire with coffee and biscuits. All around, it was a magical experience that we will surely remember.See more..
We were collected from our hotel by Saija and driven to her farm. There she harnessed up the horse to a traditional Finnish sleigh. We were given an extra warm coat and some blankets for the ride and off we went on an hours ride through the snow. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful with the only noise a bell on the harness of the horse which we were told belonged to her grandfather. It was a perfect way to end our 4 day trip to Lapland. On returning to the farm we were given some hot blackcurrant and biscuits. I would recommend this trip to anyone and would certainly do it again if we ever return to Enontekio. Many thanksSee more..
