It was a great experience! First of all, we had booked for 1th of February but because the sky was so cloudy the company changed the tour for the 2th of the month, which I found really responsible. On 2th the sky was so clear and we went with Ivan, our guide, to a 4.30 hours tour, instead of 3 that the programm was. We saw aurora at all places, but the 4th spot at the end of the tour was the best one and we will never forget it in our lives. We also had berry juice and cookies. This was one of the most special travel experiences we’ve ever had and it’s all due to Tiina and her team at Aurora Holidays (AH). From beginning to end, they were wonderful to work with, handling all of our special requests and details, and we felt extremely welcomed in this special place in the Arctic Circle. Here’s why… Cozy accommodations: Our cottage was amazing. It was spacious, well-supplied, and clean. The beds were very comfortable and plenty of warm bedding was provided. Our favorite part? The sauna of course! We used it every day and loved every minute of it. Delicious meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner prepared by AH were always delicious and we were never disappointed. Everything was really good and we were delighted to try new things. Organized logistics: AH was on top of it. They picked us up at the airport and brought us back again when our trip finished. For each special winter excursion, including those special light chasing moments, we traveled via their comfy and warm vans. During each trip, our view from the van was breathtaking – snowcapped trees, sparkling snow, and ice-covered lakes. Amazing activities: We definitely recommend the husky sledding which was exhilarating. Our ride was so much fun as we were led by six amazing dogs through the snow and it’s one of the best things we ever did. Other great things to do include snowshoeing, hanging out with the reindeer, snowmobiling, king-crab adventure, and more! The Sami museum was very good as well. We appreciated our chill days, too, during when we relaxed in the sauna, went for nice walks, and took time to appreciate the beautiful snowy landscape. Do yourself a favor and book an Aurora Holiday winter package. You will love Tiina and her team, their warmth, their expertise, and their compassion. You will not be disappointed. I had great time in Ivalo. Most of all safaris I like snowmobile riding. That was really cool! If I had it at the beginning of my stay I’d definitely request more of it. Husky safari also was very nice, however, they are not very fast, and in low temperature I couldn’t take for longer than 2 hours. Reindeers are quite slow, but it’s a beautiful experience, too. Snow tank is the best for Aurora hunting, as it’s warm inside and it’s got a glass ceiling, which allows watching the Northern Lights for longer. There’s also skiing, horse riding. No one can get bored there, especially if you like winter and you are not afraid of low temperatures!See more..
Booked 4 excursions with Wilderness Safaris Saariselka. Not disappointed with any! Upon arrival in Saariselka they supplied a snowmobile suit, gloves, boots and a balaclava to use for the whole week. Ice fishing provided no fish but did provide a great experience with snowmobiling, drilling the hole for fishing and enjoying hot juice, hot sandwiches and sausages over an open fire in a comfortable hut. First excursion to view the Northern lights on snowmobiles wsa cloudy and so no lights but still a great adventure on snowmobiles. The other 2 excursions, via a van to a remote lake and snowshoeing did provide great views of the Northern Lights. All the guides spoke great English, provided welcomed hot juices and food and took pictures that we could download. This was very important as my camera did not capture the lights that well. You must have a tripod and a DSLR that allows 30 second exposures at small F Stop values (2.n - 3.n) to take your own successfully.See more..
We started our 3 hour tour meeting in the office next to Holiday Club Saariselkä. We were suited with appropriately warm outer clothing and boots and met our guide. She then drove us to the reindeer farm, where we were introduced to our reindeer Tippy and Purrka(sp?). At our time it was just my husband and I. We each had our own sledge. Tippy, a young reindeer, was very excited and a little over eager to get going. The guide was polite and answered all of our questions. We had hot berry juice and cookies around a fire about half way through our adventure. We ended at the farm where we feed and thanked our reindeer and then enjoyed soup made by the owner, who was so sweet and continued to fill us with more information.See more..
Erwan was a great guide. You can tell he has a lot passion and great knowledge about the nature in Lapland. He was very adaptive and chose the perfect route for my very first snow shoeing hiking. The nature he showed me through the tour was absolutely stunning. It was definitely the highlight of my trip and I highly recommend his tours for anyone interested in exploring the natures in Kittilä.See more..

Wild Motion by Lapland Safari Husky Tour We really enjoyed our 10km husky tour. 5km really is too short for the experience. Lapland Safari tour brings you with a bus and you have 40 min to enjoy the beauty of Lapland and the National Park until you arrive at the Husky Farm. When we visited they had Husky puppy’s !!!! And we do love puppy's. The crew is professional and very friendly without any of the modernism commercialisms of now a days. For example they stopped during the tour just to make pictures from you in the scenic white wonderland of Lapland without asking any fee for it.See more..

I usually perform all my travel alone and being a woman, I’m concerned with my safety. Then when I booked this tour I was honestly apprehensive because of all the unknowns in visiting the wildest and far away place, until that moment. It was to be a dream fulfilled at long last - I was so impressed with every aspect of this trip: the people, the nature of Saami culture, to breathe freely the silence, smell of pristine nature with lots of snow, contemplating a frozen river, try the Finn sauna and after the sauna go out naked with just a towel in the middle of nowhere and feel the snow falling in my skin, visit the northernmost village in Europe, purity of a starry sky well below my head with the lovely dancing northern lights, all made it worth the temperature of -26C, the best gift I could offer myself was to realize this dream, all exceeded my expectations. Tundra Safari team was outstanding, they really know how to take care of you, to make you feel at home with cozy accommodations, delicious meals and incredible adventures with speechless scenery everywhere. Every detail made me adore and wanted to stay there longer, the most extraordinary thing is: they love, respect and feel pride of their Saami culture and want to show it and ensure you have a good time in Utsjoki. I feel like I've left friends behind and I'm sure you will also be able to say the same.
