Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, New Mexico, United States

4.5 (3.662 reviews) Spent Ranking #3 in New Mexico Bridges

Stunning Site

My friend and I enjoyed visiting the bridge and gorge while vacationing in the Taos area. The views are stunning, including of the mountain range nearby. We walked across the bridge and back. Quite a few people were there when we visited on a summer Tuesday evening. At no charge, it's a no brainer for sightseers interested in both natural and manmade attractions. Recommended.

    A surreal view
I had been there about 25 years ago and wanted to have my friend experience the view. I was wowed again and so was my friend. To imagine water making those ridges, wondering how far down it really is, to know that the mountain sheep go up and down it daily is just amazing. We sat on a bench about 1/4 of a mile up a trail and was just memorized by the view looking down and across.

    Must See attraction
Located about 10 miles out of town, this site is awesome to either hike along side the deep gorge or walk to look out points and take side view photos of the bridge spanning the gorge. Highly recommend late morning or mid day visits if picture taking in order to get the lighting right and avoid shadows at the bottom of the gorge. We were told that some folks have seen mountain goats on the sides of the gorge but we did not see them during a recent visit.
