We were traveling thru the area and came upon this winery by chance. We were warmly greeted and felt at home. The owner and his wife explained the history of the area, the early origins of wine making in New Mexico, and the various types of grapes that they grow. We tried wine tasting for four different varieties. The owners went out of their way to understand our palates and match the wines that they served to what we would enjoy. We had a wonderful time, made new friends, and ordered some fine reds. We will return! See more..

Stopped here while passing through the state. Spent over an hour with Mary, who was very helpful and knowledgeable about the wines. This place has won many awards and it’s evident why. Great red blends, great service in a unique environment. Cool metal sculptures make me never want to throw away old tools. The friendly dogs were a bonus- they weren’t managing at all and pretty much acted like we didn’t exist. This stop was the best part of the trip! See more..

We found this location on Harvest Hosts along our planned route. As we arrived later in the day, we didn't have a lot of time for the tasting, but we enjoyed the time we had. We also enjoyed the service and company. The wine in this region tends to be on the sweeter side, but they're still good and the red's were pretty smooth. If you get the chance, give it a try. If you're a member of Harvest Hosts, you'll enjoy the stay, its a nice quiet location. #harvesthosts See more..

This was one of the best wineries we have ever been to, and we’ve been all over the country. The hospitality was outstanding. The owner was in the middle of cutting his grass, and stopped and spent lots of time talking to us and helping us sample many of his wines. His pride truly shows, and he’s one of the friendliest people we’ve ever met. I would highly suggest even if you have to go out of your way stopping by this vineyard. See more..

I was traveling across country and visiting wineries in NM and happened to find Amaro Winery after trying some of the other wineries in Las Cruces. Yes wineries tasting room is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the visit. They have a beautiful view of Caballo lake and an extremely peaceful environment. The wine maker, Brad Shattuck, his son, and often his business partner Virginia are on site. They are incredibly welcoming and warm. They are passionate about what they do and they enjoy sharing that with others. I can particularly recommend the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon. I anticipate the 2020 cab will be just as good! There are a wide variety of wines that will appeal to every palate. It would be a shame to travel through New Mexico and miss this winery. See more..

  26. 3.5 Balzano Vineyard (16 reviews)
    - Great Winery

    Balzano Vineyard image
My wife and I do many vineyards and wineries back home in MN and WI. We were visiting family in Carlsbad for the first time and decided to try this place. One of the few wineries we have tried where the wines are good up and down the list, both whites and reds. We ordered pizzas as well. It's good the staff warned us about the pizza size, because we are used to "personal" size brick oven pizza at most wineries we go to (who have pizza). The pizzas here were basically a large size pizza you would find at a pizza joint. We were almost the only ones at the winery that day at lunch time, so the service was fine. The wines were good enough that we bought a case of various wines to bring back home with us. We will go back again when in town to visit. See more..

    - Fun spot in Portales!
    Wineries & Vineyards
    Enchantment Vineyards image
A surprisingly nice find in such a small town. We went in February during COVID because it offered an outdoor patio that we were comfortable enough going to. Tables were far enough apart and all employees wore their masks correctly. We ordered at the bar and then sat down outside. I was happy to see other options besides wine such as cider and beer on tap. They also offer a few appetizer options and we got the soft pretzel and cheese and artichoke dip. All yummy! I'd also mention that their merchandise is amazing. Their logo and branding materials were designed by an ENMU graduate and includes really fun art. I had to buy a crew neck sweatshirt and a sticker. I'll probably return for some cups or such in the future. See more..

Stopped in to this quaint winery while my husband and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary in Mesilla, the atmosphere is very inviting and I have to say the Luna Rossa Gewurztraminer is one of the most delicious white wines I've ever had anywhere. The service was good, not pushy. People out on the patio with their pets and even the dog looked like he was having a great time. Overall very charming and I can't wait to go back. =) See more..

    Camino Real Winery image
Really off the beaten path, this 16 year old one man winery really shows it has been a labor of love. The tasting room is located at the back of his house in a large add on room that also serves as his operation center. Tasting his wines amidst all the equipment is instructive, interesting, and something different from the usual. We liked all the wines, and especially the sweet white - Oñate Gold He asked where we were from in Texas, and after finding out, he told us of a couple from our town that makes bi-monthly trips to his winery and buy cases at a time. Turns out we know them, and the next time they go, they are going to pickup a case for us!! The owner says he is going to move his wine tasting to a commercial location in a couple of months. Hope it has the same warm friendly atmosphere. See more..
