The Sanctuario de Chimayo is a holy, sacred place. Please Please Please be considerate of visitors who are there for their spiritual and physical prayers and offering. This is not a tourist stop for selfies. For believers this is holy ground, encounters with God and the Holy Spirit are ongoing. My visit was peaceful and quiet, I joined a group of three ladies in the sanctuary who were praying the rosary. Many offered up prayers kneeling right at the railing before the sanctuary altar and lit votive candles as offerings. The history of this place is complex. My visit to Chimayo will always be with me. It was powerful and extremely peaceful.See more..
As a catholic, always interested in Old churches. This one is beautiful stained glass and an incredible carved old wood alter. The old alter, used when priests still had their backs to the congregation is wooden with designs and beautiful statues on it.See more..
It is a small, quiet, peaceful veneration site for Catholics, in honor of the children, alive and departed. I myself am not religious but enjoyed the inside of the church. The room to the left all the way down the hall is eerie and cute at the same time with so many pictures of babies and children’s shoes hanging from the ceiling. You are not allowed to take pictures inside the church.See more..
This church has a special history. You will know you are in Native America land when you see the Apache looking Christ above the altar. The rest of the art is also lovely. If you can, ask the nun at the gift shop about the history of the building; there is also info in the church. See more..

The Old San Ysidro Church is a classic example of New Mexico Hispanic religious architecture from the 18th & 19th centuries. Constructed of adobe in 1869. Listed on the State Register of Cultural Properties & the National Register of Historic Places. This is a historic church built in 1805 in the marvelous little village of Truchas in Northern NM. Mass is celebrated during warm months and only occasionally will you find the church open. You can find it open during the September High Road Art Tour. Be sure and go inside and see the 1700's altar screen and locally made art. I wrote an article and have photos. Built in the 1730s, Santa Cruz de la Cañada church is a short drive off the main road between Santa Fe and Taos, and is on the way from that road to Chimayó. It's full of beautiful old hand-carved and handpainted retablos and bultos from the 1700s on up (the alter screen is spectacular), and it's a lovely place to see northern NM religious art. I've been going there every once in a while for 20 years, and I've never failed to note something breathtaking that's new to me. I have a couple photos from the outside (the church itself and the Official Scenic Historic Marker) that I'd share, but TA doesn't have a page up for the church yet.See more..

Oh my Gosh! (that is OMG in a church) I was cruising through Hurley, NM, a mere wide spot in the road and was looking for the chili roaster, who was just down the street when I came upon the sigh for the Shrine of the Infant Jesus. Well when anything gets the title shrine that means there have been miracle healing. I must investigate. The Diocis had just declared this a shrine in September 2012. In ten years it can become a national shrine. It is a very small shrine, but non the less a shrine. I always stop and pray and ponder, and soak up the vibes at locations such as this! Maybe a miracle will happen for you if you drop in, who knows?See more..

While traveling from Socorro NM to Arizona, along Highway 60 in the town of Quemado, there is this beautiful gem right next to the road. We stopped to photograph the church. It's indicative of the history of the Spanish influence in this area. Nearby is a cemetary with old markers, most dating around the earlyt 1900's. Very interesting!See more..
5.0Holy Family Catholic Church(1 review) - Beautiful Contemporary Church and Chapel Churches & Cathedrals I had the pleasure thanks to Lucy of Santa Ana Church to meet the people of Holy Family Church in Deming. I got to tour their main Church highlighted by the Risen Christ in the main Altar. I attended the Holy Mass in the Chapel that morning and prayed the Rosary afterwards in the quiet atmosphere of the Chapel. I got to meet some of the wonderful parishioners during my time there and to discuss things about their Church and Parish. In the hallway, I saw some of the most beautiful Posters of various Divine and Important Persons of our Catholic Faith. I was very thankful to have visited here and would like to return again !See more..
