4.5High Road to Taos(1.287 reviews) - A great scenic drive if you have the time Scenic Drives
We were on a road trip of Arizona and New Mexico and waned to do as much sightseeing as we could to get a good taste of what there was to see. We drove the high road to Taos from Santa Fe and made a loop back to Santa Fee, which took most of the day. We felt our time was really well spent, taking our time seeing all the beautiful scenery. There were lots of turn outs which were good, both to see the sights and to get out of the way of all those people who want to drive well over the posted speed limit. (These two states seem to be full of drives that just ignore any speed limit signs.) We have been on a few driving trips in Arizona and now New Mexico, thousands of miles actually, and I must say there is so much to see if you are not from this part of the country.See more..
Canyon Road is overwhelming. You cannot see all the galleries in one day. If you like art in general, all the time you spend at Canyon Road will be delightful. If you can only visit a few galleries, for sure go to AhmyoRiver Gallery, has a great zen garden in the back. Marin Feather Fine Art, the only gallery of its kind in Santa Fe. Patrica Marin has a great story. Go see her incredible feather paintings. Canyon Road Contemporary has a great selection of art, all price points. Mickie will take great care of you at Contemporary Art. For sure go see Dominique Boisjoli gallery. Again another wonderful selection of art and Dominique is a delight. And for sure go see William and Mickey Rotsaert at Art is Gallery at 419 Canyon. Wonderful artists and gallery host. And the Tea House at the top of Canyon Road is great. ENJOYSee more..
It looks like a brand new road all the way to the crest. Fantastic view all the way around. We would have loved to hike the 1 1/2 miles south to the tram if we had known and had time. Air is a little thin up there so be careful if that effects you. We went on a Sunday morning and apparently thrill seekers on high performance motorcycles like to ride the 20 -40 mph switchback roads at several times the speed limit. It wasn't just one, we saw 30+ on the way up and down. One loose rock and one of these d-bags would be in the ER. I suggest that the appropriate NM authority patrol the road on Sunday mornings.See more..
4.0Singing Road(113 reviews) - Do it soon or it will be gone Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Scenic Drives
Contrary to the other reviews it is still there but as mentioned a few times not as crisp as it was. The signs are gone . I live off of 66 about 5 miles east of the section with the song bumps. I am very disappointed that our state of NM has decided not to maintain this very cool attraction and remove the signs. Shame on you. Every one that comes to visit us gets a ride down route 66 and with no exception has me go back a second time to hear it again. It never was the whole song just a short section of it . If you drive the 45 speed open your window you can clearly hear it and then a short quiet section and then a very short Oncor. If you want to hear it i do suggest you do it soon as it has deteriorated significantly in the last couple years.See more..
We drove up into the hills above Los Alamos to see the fall colors. Once we got up to the Valles Caldera we decided to continue the loop drive and were really glad that we did. The drive has beautiful scenery all along the way, from beautiful fall colors, to the caldera valley, to the pine forests, to the red walls of the canyon near Jemez.See more..

4.5State Route 244(33 reviews) - Elk and horses and cows oh my! Spent 2-3 hours Lookouts • Scenic Drives
Make sure you do this scenic drive after 6p (my drive was in July) or very close to dusk. The elk come down the mountains to munch on the green vegetation! I saw several herds! Have the camera ready because they are skittish and run right back up into the trees. Saw cows and horses and lots of yellow wildflowers in the fields. Nice way to end the day!See more..

4.5Jemez Mountain Trail(20 reviews) - One of the most scenic roads you can drive in New Mexico Scenic Drives
Such a nice stretch of road for camping, few fences to keep you out, multiple pull-offs and some side roads to explore. Maintenance was good at all the arroyo crossings, no deep sand. Some small rocks on the road made it better for dual-sports than for the light cruisers we brought. With the dual sports we could have gone further into the landscape on the side roads that descended into old quarries or followed arroyos. The last 2 miles of road at the south end (off BLM land) had a little sand- stay away from the sides of the road!See more..

5.0The Gilman Tunnels(2 reviews) - Great views- well worth a couple of hours of your time! Points of Interest & Landmarks • Scenic Drives
My wife and I met up with our adult son in New Mexico for a vacation. He used to live there and we visited him and then vacationed in the area several times and we all really enjoy New Mexico. We were staying in Jemez Springs and saw a map next to the Jemez Bath House that showed Gilman Tunnels. It's a relatively short drive from Jemez Springs so we decided to go there. What a treat! The two tunnels were fun and, of course, we had to stop and take pictures of each other standing just in front of the tunnels to show how big they are. But the rocks on each side of the road and the water tumbling down the rocks on one side of the road were all very picturesque. There were people who had climbed down to the water level although we decided to enjoy the views from the road level. The road [a former railroad track] dead-ends there so you drive down, enjoy the views, and come back. But this is well worth a couple of hours of your time. Kudos to the previous reviewer for his photos and review. If we ever go again, I'll caution my son about not exceeding the speed limit!See more..
