Painter Georgia O’Keeffe’s former studio and home is now a top-notch education center and retreat. The 21,000-acre estate offers a variety of activities, workshops, and tours. You can also marvel at the estate's natural beauty, with towering and multi-colored cliffs and canyons all around. It is also a great place for hiking—you can even find dinosaur fossils from the Triassic period in the dinosaur quarry on the way to the Kitchen Mesa trail. Ghost Ranch is just 60 miles from Santa Fe, making it a great day trip. Alternatively, you can stay the night as overnight lodging is available. – Tripadvisor See more..

    Tsankawi image
After a long day exploring the Bandelier National Monument Loop and Falls trails we decided to check out the Tsankawi Ruins in the Los Alamos/White Rock vicinity. It was a great decision. With just a few hours left before dusk, we had plenty of time to explore these unique Indian trails, petroglyphs, and cave dwellings. And we practically had the park to ourselves. Incredible views, cool breezes, and a new appreciation of the ways that these Ancestral Puebloans lived are the memories we take. Only disappointment was that the Trail Guide box was empty so you might want to access a guide online before you go. Don't miss it in any case. See more..

I was out in Las Cruces for a retreat from work and family responsibilities, and what did I do? I visited NMSU! I have heard good things about this university for most of my life, so I enjoyed driving around and seeing the local architectural style of the buildings and walked through a few of them. The Chile Institute was my favorite stop... it's a must-see if you love eating chile. See more..

Challenger Learning Center New Mexico image
The Challenger Learning Center, co-located with the Unser Racing Museum, is a must visit place for almost all school age kids. Built to interest kids in space and science and to memorialize the astronauts who gave their lives. An interactive mission through the center allows children (and adults) to experience a trip to space from mission control to the space station. Tours are ideally for school groups though individuals can sign up for the periodic adult sessions. The staff make an extra effort to make the experience very realistic. See more..

Galleries of Fine and Fiber Arts This is the oldest, and largest gallery on the Turquoise Trail. We now represent over 100 fine artists and 50 fiber artists. The gallery was started by Mel and Diana Johnson, who met as students at the Art Institute of Chicago. Mel later taught figure drawing there, and architectural drawing at Texas Tech University. Diana has had her one of a kind dresses carried at high end department stores around the country. Today, the gallery is run by four generations of the Johnsons family. See more..
