  8. 5.0 The Old Windmill Dairy Farm (2 reviews)
    - Family Friendly Farm
    Farms
The Old Windmill Dairy Farm image
I went to Michael and Ed's farm to look at the baby Nubian goats. I know about their goats because I have eaten their incredible goat cheese but more so because I know about the care their goats get. But to witness and partake in actually feeding these babies, hearing them 'baaaahhh' as they were running towards me warmed my heart! Yes, goats chew on everything including my shirt and pant legs...but no damage was done. The cheese-making facility is spotless! The males are separated from the females so forget about that 'goaty smell', unless you're really into it. The different flavors of this cheese is like Baskin-Robbins...but it's not ice cream. The drive there is not far from Albuquerque...and it's out there in the vast high desert of New Mexico. I thought it would be a restful experience but the nap I took when I got home was badly needed. I know how much work those guys do to keep providing us with this great cheese. They also have day trips for the rest of you folks...Call ahead and bring young people so they can see what happens first-hand and tell their friends. It's something they will remember for a long time. I will too! See more..
