The lake is pretty long. Approx. 8 km. You can enjoy a walk along the water. Or cycle around the lake on the good path. There is even a bridge (for walkers/cyclists only) to cross the lake. There are several places where you can stop for drinks, snacks & meals. Or bring your own to have a picknick, or sit on one of the many benches. On a sunny day, you can rent a sunbed/deckchair. When it gets too hot, just go into the water. There a designated areas where you are allowed to swim (although the water did not look too clean to me). If you are more into sports/activities: just rent a boat, go surfing, standup paddling, etc. You do not pay an entrance- or parking fee. You can also get to the lake by train. In the midd of winter, surrounded by snow, a steady stream of crystal clear water was pouring out. That is not so remarkable by itself. However, on the display board you could see that it is a rather nice place when the vegetation is out and everything is green. The spring is the "birthplace" of the river Ruhr who gave name to a whole region, the Ruhrgebiet. The Ruhrgebiet was the heart of coal mining, steel production and the engine for Germany's industrial growth and prosperity. Visited this park with my family when we were holidaying in Neubeckum for two weeks. They have an excellent restaurant there with extremely friendly and welcoming staff who serve amazingly tasty and fresh food. You can sit out on the terrace or up on the balcony sipping your beer or cocktail and watch all the goings on on the lake. My kids enjoyed walking along the lake, feeding the ducks and coots and playing on the playground.See more..

Artificial lake just 4 km from Borken linked with the city by a good bicycle path. Towards the west there is place for swimming. You can rent a boat at the boathouse and there is lots of space to picnic or even barbecue. This lake and it's surrounding track is a great place to walk your dog and let them have a swim. Letting them off the leash is a bad idea since there are a lot of bikers and the highway is right next to it. As mentioned it is also a great track to ride with your bicycle since it is flat and not very crowded. I wouldn't recommend it for any hikes or walks since the scenery isn't that great and there are better lakes in the area aswell as there not being a lot of tracks to hike on. A walk around all lakes takes about 40 minutes for us.See more..

Locals were coming with picnics and people like to cycle nearby, there is also a nice path that goes around the lake. Omsider kom vi ind og mødte en noget bister lejrchef -Ulvinden Ilse!: Nej, vi kunne ikke rejse næste dag tidligere end 8. Nej, vi kunne ikke betale på forhånd. Nej, vi kunne kun betale kontant. Nej, der var ingen bad nær den anviste plads. Nej, der var ingen toiletpapir nær bruserummene. De toiletter var reserveret fastliggerne. Nej, vi kunne ikke holde udenfor lejeren på en p plads. Den tilhørte skovejere, og han var imod vw campere.
Pladsen var præget af bygningsarbejder efter gør-det-selv metoden. Alle -gæster som ansatte - optrådte som pryglede hunde.
