Spend the day in Königswinter today. We got there fairly early, and noticed the little train up the hill does not go up until 11 a.m. because we already arrived around 9:30 am we decided to walk up. Especially the first part is pretty steep at a 20% incline, but if you take your time it's definitely doable and a very nice walk. I recommend getting there early if you visit on the weekend to beat the crowds. Beautiful views and interesting to see the ruins. Definitely worth the walk up the hill! See more..
  2. 4.5 Kahler Asten (29 reviews)
    - Excellent views and beautiful scenery

    Kahler Asten image
The Kahler Asten is the highest peak in the Sauerland region and almost gives some alpine feeling. Vegetation is already quite mountainous. The views are excellent and there are some well signposted walks of different lengths and difficulties. The viewing, tower, however is rather underwhelming with its thick glass windows that obstruct the view. See more..
  3. 4.5 Tippelsberg (13 reviews)

Bochum is mostly flat, so this modest hill is the tallest thing in the area. It has excellent views of the city and the surrounding countryside. The paths are blacktop so it is handicapped accessible. See more..

  5. 4.5 Kissinger Hoehe (2 reviews)
    - the highest point of the city of Hamm
Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Mountains • Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Kissinger Hoehe image
The Kissinger Höhe is a mountainside and lies southwest of the city center of Hamm between Pelkum and Daberg. It is about 58 meters above the surrounding area and reaches a maximum height of 112.3 meters above the sea level. The mountain was taken over by the regional association Ruhr and greened. The Kissinger Höhe has three peaks and is differently wooded. 17 km of hiking and Nordic walking trails with different degrees of difficulty were created. Crossing over the heap is a mining course with items and utensils from the mining industry. There are benches and garbage cans in some places to allow a break. At the highest point is a resting place. At two crossroads and on two of the peaks are covered with reeds growing ponds. From the exposed areas, the view is spectacular. Nice place to visit in a sunny day. See more..
  6. 3.0 Ginsterkopf (1 review)
    - Rundwanderwege zum Ginsterkopf
    Spent 2-3 hours Mountains
    Ginsterkopf image
