    This has been my old school, so I am slightly biased..but when I visited it again, after over 40 years, none of the charm has been lost. The Schloss itself charges an entry fee, but the gardens can be visited for free and are probably just as important as the inside of the building itself. If you are looking to get a feel for the real Germany, you really kust visit the palace..and Benrath. See more..

    Very big aquarium with lots of different species of fish, pinguins, snakes, spiders, turtles, mongoose. Not recommended on a Sunday morning as very crowded with children and strollers. But a very pleasant experience, it takes about 1h30 hours to visit and the parking costs 1euro per hour - coins only. See more..

    This museum has existed at this location for about 10 years. It presents a good overview of the nature, history and culture of this region. The museum has a modern interior design and you can stay there for a long time if you want to see everything. The staff is friendly and helpful.     This small museum presents the history and crafts of the sand stone production and sculpture originating from the nearby sand stone quarries. This is a charming museum and makes a deep impression with the art and craft of sand stone sculpting. See for yourself if you are in the neighbourhood. One example is one of the windows of the Lamberti Church in Münster. This window made of sand stone was unrepairable damaged in WW II. The craftsmen of the sand stone quarry made an exact replica, which was used in the restauration of the Lamberti Church. See the photo of the damaged window in the museum and the replica now in the Lamberti Church. As the museum is in a quiet backwater of Havixbeck, parking around the museum is free. The entrance is also free, but a donation is appreciated. See more..
