Just back from a two day trek on the "Wilderness-Trail" (2 out of 4 stages) in the Eifel National Park. If you like wilderness, forests and the quietness of the nature this could be a nice spot for (at least) a 2 - 4 day trip. We did stages 2 and 3 from Einruhr over Gemünd to Heimbach. Apparently stage 4 is a bit "boring". But we did not do that stage and can really recommend stages 2 and 3. They are wonderful but not always easy walks of 20 and 22 km. Wow where do I start? This place is probably even better with (small) children but no doubt wonderful for people of all ages! One can wander through this huge park for hours, and interact with many of the animals. Tips: 1) Buy food beforehand if you want to feed the animals. 2) Visit the bird show!!! 3) Go all the way down the steep hill to visit the otters. The sign is hard to find but they are there and it appears they get very few visitors yet they are the cutest things! A great visit, and highly recommended!See more..

Absolute lovely place, vast place with amazing nature, place to enjoy peace and quiet. We could watch deers and other animals. Of course there is no guarantee to see them but it's so nice to watch the animals in their natural habitat and not in cages. There are also a lot of nice places where you can learn a lot about the forest while playing. I can only recommend it.See more..

Quiet walk surrounded by nature on even flat terrain. Well sign-posted including sections of walk that might some people might find a little steeper (but which did not stop us seeing occasional strollers with kids as this was a national holiday). There are several interesting signs and an area where felled trees were used to create walkways. These brought out the smiles in both kids and adults alike!! You drove up, poped into the visitors centre & paid our ticket, had a look round, used th WCs & drove up to the top car park. The lady in the ticket booth was very pleasant, helpful and spoke english. From the top car park we walked to the 4 steines & climbed up the one yu can climb (too steep for our dogs). Fantastic views & wild raspberries lined the route. Very pleasant walk but you need comfy shoes & it suddenly rained while we were there so waterproof are handy.See more..

The Dörenther Klippen is a nice walk through the woods. Not really for wheelcairs, but when you can walk it is a nice interesting walk. When you are healthy you can climb the rocks. I am a light disable woman of 70 and I enjoued the walk from the Parking place to Waldsafé and from there along the rockformations. For me it ends almost at the and. The climbing was to dangerous for me. Not fot people who have no walkingproblems At the Waldcafé you can have a good rest and good kaffee und torte and drinks and food. Germans love nothing better than a nice walk, and this site is lovely and well-managed. While the loss of insect life in Germany is very regrettable, this preserve does have ducks, cranes, and other waterfowl throughout the marshland. Periodically there are small look-out stations. The northern part has no lofty mountains but some remarkable walking, hiking and cycling country. All within easy reach of cities like Cologne and Düsseldorf. The Isle of Bislich is one of the few remaining floodplain landscapes in Germany. Plants and animals which are well worth protecting are native to the area, which has many hiking and cycling paths. There is an information center, which is an ideal starting point for discovery tours. The center "NaturForum" has many objects that appeal to all the senses, including the sense of smell. The exhibits are complemented by multimedia presentations. All age groups are addressed and I am sure that children will be particularly enthusiastic. Through this visit, you understand the ecological context of the area and you see many animals (stuffed or in pictures) that you cannot discover on a hike. Free parking is available on the premises and there is also a small coffee shop where you can enjoy some food. The staff is very helpful and friendly, the prices are reasonable. The main path through the nature reserve is a bit boring, but you can look forward to a few detours on small paths leading to bird watching stations. It is truly interesting to take part in guided tours offered by the information center from time to time. You should contact the center in advance to find out when tours are available.See more..

Wir haben das Seminar bei Pierre Schmidt mit unserer Praxis als Betriebsausflug gebucht. Das 3,5 stündige Seminar umfasst einen kurzen Rundgang und Erklärung zu den Tieren. Dann ging es auch schon direkt los... einige Kollegen/innen hatten deutlichen Respekt vor den Tieren, vor allem vor dem großen "Alaska" Weißkopfseeadler. Pierre und seine super freundlichen und kompetenten Mitarbeiterinnen haben es jedoch geschafft auch die Ängstlichsten von ihren von den Sitzen zu reißen und eine "Landung" auf der Hand/ Arm und auch Schulter mit zu erleben. Es sind wirklich imposante und tolle Tiere. Ich habe bereits eine Falknerei in der Wüste Dubai's besucht, aber die Falknerei von Pierre ist ein tolles Erlebnis, da die Artenvielfalt sehr groß ist. It is not only a visitor centre but also an educative centre. There is also guided tour if it is needed. You can visit the exposition for € 2,00. The staff is very friendly answering all your question. There is restrooms and also a souvenier shop. In the winter this place is closed on Saturday and Sunday ( see the opening time).See more..
Ich habe den Malaienkauz Thorin auf einem ganz normalen Spaziergang am am 14.04.2019 am Hexenteich getroffen. Es war eine Begegnung, der besonderen Art. So etwas hat man nicht alle Tage und ich war ganz aus dem Häuschen. Es durften Fragen gestellt werden und auch Fotos durfte ich machen, worüber ich mich sehr gefreut habe. You can rent a boat at the boathouse and there is lots of space to picnic or even barbecue. Wir, sind im September 2022, nur durch Zufall, auf die Alpaka in Orsoy am Niederrhein aufmerksam geworden. Wir haben sofort einen Termin auf dem Weidegrundstück der Alpaka vereinbart, um diese besonderen Tiere einmal näher kennen zu lernen. Wir wollten die Tiere nur Füttern und wenn möglich streicheln, und uns von den Alpakas beschnüffeln lassen...halt den Tieren mal nahe kommen...Wir standen mit der freundlichen Besitzerin auf der Wiese, und alle Alpakas waren auf einmal um uns herum in enger körperlichen Bewegung. Sie zeigten uns gegenüber keine Scheu, für uns war es als würden wir schon immer mit diesen Tieren bekannt gewesen sein. Da die Alpakas nur ein spezielles für sie zusammengestelltes Futter in Form von Vitamin angereicherten Pellets bekommen dürfen, wurden wir von der Besitzerin ausreichend mit diesen Futter ausgestattet. Jetzt waren alle Tiere nur noch auf uns, beziehungsweise auf meine Futter reichenden Frau ausgerichtet. Meiner Frau hat dieser doch enge Kontakt mit den Alpakas sehr gut getan. Es war für uns das erste mal, das wir großen Tieren, so nahe gekommen sind. Ca. eine Stunde bei den Alpakas, hat seine Wirkung hinterlassen, meine Frau war glücklich, und somit ich, natürlich auch...
Weil es meiner Frau so gut gefallen hat, werden wir bei einer passenden Gelegenheit einen Spaziergang mit den Alpakas am Niederrhein bei Orsoy vereinbaren. Wir freuen uns jetzt schon auf die ca. zwei Stunden, die dieser Spaziergang mit den Alpakas dauern soll.
Wer sich selber einmal etwas gutes tun möchte, und keine Scheu vor Tieren hat, der sollte die Alpakas in Orsoy einmal kennenlernen. Wir können bestätigen, die Tiere tun einen nichts, außer das sie einen ein gutes schönes Gefühl vermitteln... Meine Frau war ca. eine Stunde lang ein großes glückliches Mädchen, das große Tiere Füttern und Streicheln konnte...Wir, kommen auf jeden Fall wieder zu den Alpakas nach Orsoy...See more..
