The cave tour was great and the different lights in the cave were very well prepared so that all the visitors can see the different unique shapes from nature clearly. The guide didn’t talked a lot but the general explanations about the cave was good. See more..

Very interesting caves, tour guide in German. Cold inside so don’t forget a jacket. It is really nice to appreciate how the drops are still working through the rocks deep in the earth and creating fantastic stalactites and stalagmites. The caves are prepared properly so they are secure and with lights. See more..
  4. 4.5 Aggertalhöhle Ründeroth (2 reviews)
    - Schöne Höhle mit ersklassiger wissenschaftlicher Führung
    Spent < 1 hour Caverns & Caves
- Dwarf hole, Earth-opening
    Caverns & Caves
    Zwergenhohle image
It is a about two feet high, five feet wide and seven meters long Earth-opening that leads into the mountain to a limestone- and stalactite cave, in this cave remains of prehistoric boats were found. In 1996 the area was redesigned by the "Bürgerverein Scheel": the bridge was restored and above the cave a new fence was installed. Of the cave only the entrance still exists. The name “Dwarf hole” is based on an old legend that once dwarves lived in this cave, who had a good neighbourly relations with the "human" inhabitants of nearby Scheel. On a regular basis they willingly lent out their copper herbal cauldron. When one day the cauldron was returned uncleaned and without the agreed “white bread gift” they were so disappointed that the dwarfs left their cave at the Neuenberg, never to return. See more..
