4.5Rheinturm(3.021 reviews) - Can’t be missed Friday: 10:00 AM - 1:00 AM Observation Decks & Towers
One of the highlights and most outstanding buildings in Düsseldorf. A visit can’t be missed if you want to enjoy a beautiful 360 degrees view over the city, the river and the surroundings. If you go really early or really late it is 5 euro per ticket otherwise you pay 9 euro to go up (as adult). The elevator brings you to 168 meter in no time. As said, the views are amazing also thanks to the huge amount of glass. There is a bar and enough places to sit and enjoy the views. Prices are not too expensive. On the floor above there is even a sushi restaurant but that is very expensive though.See more..

4.5Gasometer Oberhausen(721 reviews) - A wonderfully artwork and a beautiful view Friday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings • Observation Decks & Towers
The Gasometer is more than just an industrial monument. Since its decommissioning about twenty years ago it has developed into the landmark of the city of Oberhausen and, beyond that, it has become an entire region's identification sign that cannot be overlooked. Built in the late 1920's, Europe's largest disc-type gas holder is an impressive reminder of the heavy industry that characterised the Ruhr for more than a century. Whoever enters the Gasometer, does not, however, only get an impression of great engineering skill. The recognition of the technical achievements of industrialisation is mingled with the fascination of the unique space experience which this gigantic 'cathedral of industry' conveys. Today the Gasometer provides the unique frame for cultural experiences of various kind. Exhibitions, theatre and music are made viable and can be rediscovered and experienced with all the senses. As a venue it inspired artists of international relevance.See more..
Want a very nice day out with children. We had visitors for a week and of course we had to find things to do to amuse the children aged 8,11 & 13. We borrowed bicycles from friends etc and we set out on a bike ride. From Kliedbruch through the forrests towards Hulser Berg, along the bumpy tracks and the winding paths. The final ascent up a steep path and we arrived at Hulser Berg where we all had a drink in the local. Then the kids spotted the tower and of course wanted to climb the steps. A tip, lock up your bikes because the tower takes time to visit. The long climb to the top with the kids wanting to know how safe it was ? and has it ever fallen down ? The tower is much higher than the tallest trees and the views on the climb are super. Finally the top is reached and then the many questions, how high are we ? what is that place over there ?. The view in every direction is wonderful, Krefeld, Uerdingen, the Rhein can all be seen. The kids wanted to stay for ages but of course could not. Then comes the downward treck. An ice cream for the kids then we took to the forrest trails again, got lost and found ourselves back at Hulser Berg (after a 15 minute ride) more forrest trails and we finally made it back home. Have you had a good time kids ? oh yes can we go again tomorrow ? If we visit you next year can we go again. Kids just love unusual outings with a bit of excitement.See more..
We passed this mine on the motorway and couldn't believe our eyes so googled and found the viewpoint. It's an amazing sight on the one hand - the vast scale of it, the huge machines, the amazing patterns in the landscape and the different colours. On the other hand, I came away wondering why I get so wound up trying to recycle everything I can when all this polluting coal is being dug up and burned.See more..

4.5Das Geleucht(18 reviews) - Viewpoint to see industry and nature Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Observation Decks & Towers
"Das Geleucht" is one of the waypoints of the "Route der Industriekultur" - which is a path thru the former industry center (Mining and steal) of Germany. The "Geleucht" is a building on top of a artificial hill - formed over more then 100 years by the Debris of the Coal Diggers. It is a giant lamp - like the lamp the Miners used in the very beginning of coal mining. You can go inside and upstairs to have an even more spectecular view over River Rhine and wide woods and a lake. You can see working industry (Steal - like Thyssen) on the left hand and renatured areas (Woods, a lake) on the other side. Nice!See more..
4.0Astenturm(15 reviews) - A welcome respite from the elements Friday: Spent More than 3 hours Observation Decks & Towers
It is easy to drive up to the Astenturm. However, I hiked up there on a smowy day as part of the Rothaarsteig. So I was happy with a warm meal at the restaurant, though the Germknoedel (a big dumpling made from flour and yeast) was a little dense. Menu had several soups and other easy prepared dishes. Self-service. Indoor and weather permitting outdoor seating. In the building is also a small museum about the local natural history. Worthwhile to stop by. Walking and hiking opportunities around the summit.See more..
4.5Burg Schwalenberg(10 reviews) - Ein fast vergessenes Kleinod! Friday: Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings • Castles • Observation Decks & Towers
See more..

The Bismarckturm is an observation tower, 23,33 meters high, placed in the forest on Stuckenberg in the eastern outskirts of Herford. It was built in 1906. See the website of the Freundeskreis Herforder Bismarckturm e. V. for information about guided tours and opening hours, or ask in the reception of nearby Hotel Waldesrand. Worth a visit? If you are really into German observation towers built in the early 20th century, the answer is yes. If not, just go down the hill and enjoy another Herforder pils!See more..

3.0Aachener Tor(6 reviews) - Altes Tor Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Observation Decks & Towers
See more..

4.0Stadttürme(2 reviews) - Five towers left Spent < 1 hour Observation Decks & Towers Borken has a long history dating back to mediëval times when the city was protected by walls and towers. Most of the walls have disappeared, but five towers survived. They are about 12 tot 18m high and of solid structure. One of them is the Wedemhove tower, but perhaps more peculiar is the Kuhmtower because it leans over a bit like the Pisa tower.See more..
