4.5Schloss Benrath(733 reviews) - A Gem ! Monday: Spent 2-3 hours Historic Sites • Natural History Museums • Castles
This has been my old school, so I am slightly biased..but when I visited it again, after over 40 years, none of the charm has been lost. The Schloss itself charges an entry fee, but the gardens can be visited for free and are probably just as important as the inside of the building itself. If you are looking to get a feel for the real Germany, you really kust visit the palace..and Benrath.See more..
4.5Schloss Drachenburg(713 reviews) - A fairy tale castle!! Monday: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM Castles
It is a fairy tale castle!! Absolutely spectacular with Gothic architecture exterior and exquisite interior. It was quite a hike up but once you reach the top, you get rewarded by the magnificent views of the Rhine valley and the city of Bonn. There is a train that goes up but we decided to do it on foot.See more..
One the day of my visit they had knights turnaments in a setting of a play enacted by local volunteers. Fights with sword, knife, flais etc. This enactment takes place on certain days. The museum gives you an insight to how it was back in the day in Germany with the many kingdoms. it is possible to take the cable car to/from the town below. Restaurants, shops and stands where you can grab a bite to eat or drink.See more..

4.0Schloss Corvey(173 reviews) - Very interesting buildings, art and history Monday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Castles
UNESCO World Heritage Site CORVEY The former Benedictine abbey of Corvey is considered to be one of the most important monastic establishments in medieval Germany and has been appointed a UNESCO World Heritage site. After nearly 1000 years of monastic life, today’s visitors are received into a baroque castle complex under ducal ownership. The early medieval westwork, the baroque monastery, as well as the princely library with about 75,000 volumes, fascinate guests from all over the world. A visit to Corvey is a splendid experience with its museum, castle restaurant, the Corvey wine house and the Weser Activity Hotel - Corvey is close to the Weser cycle path, too.See more..
This was absolutely amazing! I would recommend this to anyone. We were there on a special day where there were booths set up, live animals, plenty of food and lots of fun. My three year old granddaughter had an amazing time as well as the rest of us. I will cherish the memories made here. The castle is filled with history and is beautiful. The scenery is breathtaking. If I’m lucky, I will be going back some day! See more..
Beautiful castle on a small hill worth visiting. Wewelsburg is a Renaissance castle located in the village of Wewelsburg in the northeast of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. After 1934 it was used by the SS under Heinrich Himmler, and was to be expanded into a complex which would serve as the central SS cult-site.See more..

Our stay at this beautiful castle was breathtaking. The room had a fantastic view as far as Cologne, was very nicely furnished and extremely spacious. The service staff was very attentive, courteous and friendly from check-in to dinner and breakfast. The breakfast buffet was fantastic! Built in a long, stately castle arch. A very large selection of dishes and groceries, also many vegan and vegetarian delicacies. We will definitely come back! Thank you dear team of the Schloßhotel for this wonderful stay.See more..

4.0Hotel Schloss Dyck(125 reviews) - Wonderful Place Monday: Spent More than 3 hours Castles • Parks
This is a very interesting castle with extensive grounds. We were here for a family wedding, so perhaps my view is slanted a bit. The entrance is along a tree lined avenue, through outer gates, then across a moat and into the inner courtyard. There are paths which lead through different gardens and around a small lakes, giving wonderful views of the castle. There are guided tours in several languages.See more..
4.0Stolberger Burg(122 reviews) - What a charming old part of town. Spent 1-2 hours Castles
When we drove into Stolberg it was much busier and more modern than I expected, and I wondered if I would be disappointed with our visit. Once we made our way to the Altstadt however, my fears instantly proved to be unjustified. The old part of town is utterly charming, and the view of the Castle and church together makes a fabulous picture. But whereas a visit to the aforementioned buildings is an obvious priority, you should also wander the narrow cobbled streets to savour the charm and incredible peacefulness of the area. While doing this, I came across one street with several lovely looking, traditional bars on it, and I couldn’t help but wish that I could visit again some evening when they are open. The atmosphere then must be quite special.See more..

Absolutely beautiful fairy-tale style castle complete with moat near the town of Kleve. I have to admit we were not looking forward to the interior with it's modern art collection but we actually did enjoy most of it! There is also a collection of 19th century paintings in a side building to enjoy for people who like more traditional art.See more..
About a 30 minute walk from the main palace, this recently restored lodge in the park, though sadly "cut off" by a railway line, is surprisingly elaborate. Most noteworthy is the extensive use of beautiful blue and white pictorial tiles from Rotterdam. These tiles blanket the staircase walls and create quite an effect. A very beautiful building and not to be missed.See more..
To get to this place from Dortmund Hauptbanhof (central station), you need to get on the U41 subway line in direction of Hörde, hop off at Hörde Banhof station and get on the 442 bus in direction of Syburg, hopping off in the last stop, Syburg. From there it is just a quick walk to the park, the ruins and the monument. Google Maps somehow does not know of this route, that takes about 40min. The whole place is very beautiful and the view is amazing, even in a cloudy day. There are small hiking trails into the woods, and it is difficult to get lost there. Give it a try!See more..
Of this former fortress is the "Schwanenturm" open to visitors, and during tours for groups also its Spike. The saga of this castle is associated with Knight of the Swan Lohengrin, supposedly the ancestor of the Dukes of Cleves. Once the building was called "the fortress of Cleves" but after its 17th century renovation is the Swan Castle since then actually a baroque castle. Remains of the ornated Knights' Hall were integrated into the portals on the courtyard and are preserved, 12th century and 15th century the former castle rampart was wall built as well as the double seat toilet (flushing included, state of the art in that period!) integrated into the Spiegelturm. In WW II destroyed by a bombraid, only the Swantower has been reconstructed. Today the castle houses the Court of Justice.See more..

3.5Schloss Bedburg(34 reviews) - Impressive and yet nothing too special Monday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Castles
Schloss Bedburg is not open to the public. It appears that it's been converted to appartments... The park is open, though, which means you can at least view the castle. It's big and impressive but feels more like an institution than a castle. Still worth a look if you happen to pass by or if you like "water castles".See more..

This is a lovely castle to visit. It's only possible to see it with a guided tour, so check the scheduled times beforehand! Most of the rooms you get to visit are still being used for parties or when the royal family have guests so it does give an authentic look behind the scenes. Our guide was informative, funny and gave her tour with enthousiasm. This castle is from the Danish royal family but the Dutch royal family have history here as well. It's a palace where Beatrix and Claus came to meet up in secret before their engagement / marriage. The garden around the castle is lovely as well. All in all, a great place to see and to experience!See more..
4.0Schloss Borbeck(30 reviews) - Great place to relax! Monday: Points of Interest & Landmarks • Castles
The Schloss is very beautiful, behind it you have a very nice and big park that you can relax or walk there with small lake.See more..
The castle was built on a rock above the Eifel town Heimbach and is one of the oldest castles in the Eifel. The original castle dates back to the 10th century and was built by the Heren van Hengebach. During the successive centuries the castle was expanded. The fire of 1687 however turned the castle into a ruin, a state that would remain so until the beginning of the 20th century. Dirunbg the Second World War, already performed restoration works were destroyed again. After this war the castle was once again restored and owned by the town of Heimbach. The burch is free to visit, you can even go up from the town itself with an elevator. Up here you have a beautiful view of the town of Heimbach and the surrounding area. What I personally find unfortunate is the visible use of concrete elements in the restoration, making the whole thing less authentic.See more..
