A pleasant 6.5 km walk

Aasee (Lake Aa) is no. 1 attraction in Münster, if you ask me. The churches and squares are pretty dull, the restaurants are not that interesting - but the lake is worth seeing. Or - don’t just see it. Take a walk around it. 6.5 km easy dirt road.

    Muenster's Top Attraction
    Every time I visit Muenster, a stop at this small lake in the heart of the city is an absolute must. The lake is located to the southeast of the city center, and part of the lake is actually adjacent to the zoo (another popular local destination). The lake has a trail around it for walking, running, or cycling, and is surrounded by plenty of grassy areas that are commonly used by people to hang out, relax, barbecue, etc. It is a very popular destination for local college students, but there are also lots of families walking around and enjoying the scenery. When the weather is nice, people come from all over town to spend some quality time at the lake. You can even rent paddle boats or small sail boats there, go fishing, or enjoy a cold beer. The only thing that is not recommended is swimming there, because the water is anything but clean.

    My favourite spot in town!
    The area around the Lake Aasee is the ideal place for strolling around, for jogging, for picnic, for feeding ducks, for taking pictures and so on ad so forth. But is is also the perfect place just to sit idle, doing nothing, and admire nature!
