We live about 5 minuites away from that park. We still talk our camper out there from time to time. It is a nice little escape. The water is nice and calm for beginning kayakers. New trees so not much shade and the fish are still little but it is all New so these things take time. You can't rush nature. All in all a great little spot See more..

Took a stroll through here to get to the car show at Merriam Market Place. What a good surprise how nice it was back there. My only recommendation is to have benches to stop and rest and enjoy the peace and quiet. See more..
  3. 4.0 Flint Hills Nature Trail (1 review)
    - Rails to Trails
Spent 1-2 hours Scenic Walking Areas
The longest (117 mi.) trail in Kansas. It goes from Osawatomie to Herington. Some rough spots but mostly hard-packed crushed limestone roadbed. Biked from Admire to Council Grove , May 31, 2019. Saw deer, turkeys, a turtle and a snake. There are no services ( water, toilets etc.) and no mile markers. Services may be available in the SMALL towns spaced 15-20 miles(water stops for the steam locomotives) apart. Provides beautiful wide open views of the Flint Hills. See more..
