    - Great stop on a Route 66 roadtrip

To be honest, my husband didn't think this bridge looked like anything special, but keep in mind that it was built in 1923! So different from most bridges built in those years. Very pretty and in a tranquil setting. Imagine crossing the country on narrow roads and bridges like this. Plan to at least drive over it, even if you don't stop. Note that some Route 66 guidebooks and websites list this as in Baxter Springs rather than Riverton. It's really between the two. See more..

    - remembering a great movie
    Spent < 1 hour Bridges

From the Cowley County website "There are only 1,700 stone arch bridges remaining in the United States with more than 16 century bridges across Cowley County." Most of the bridges are on public roads, well maintained and still in use today. The County website has a link to a map marking them and driving directions to each. Perfect photography/art subjects. Well worth the time. Depending on how many you wanted to see, you could spend an hour or several days visiting them all. See more..
  5. 1.0 Theorosa's Bridge (2 reviews)
    - Skip this attraction
    Bridges
The old steel and wooden bridge was torn down years ago and with it went the mustique of the Theorosa story. It was replaced with a modern concrete bridge and all the landscaping was cleared and there is absolutely nothing left over from the Theorosa's glory days. See more..
  6. 4.0 Freight House Bridge (1 review)
    - Great shoutcut with a view.
    Spent < 1 hour Bridges
I saw the bridge being moved from the Missouri river to the yard between Union Station and the Freight House district. That was interesting in itself. The bridge was the best lookout for when the Union Pacific railroad company brought the steam engine named: "Big Boy"to KC in Nov. 2019, or about any railroad engine or cars coming through Union station. It connects Union Station with several of the finer eateries in town. See more..
