I would recommend reading the history of the Cathedral of the Pines on their website first. I went here as a kid numerous times & even sang in the choir there. I remember the story about how the parents built this in honor of their son who died in the war. I saw no mention of that at all on this trip. I remember the stones on the altar were from every state & but had forgotten they were also from every president since Truman, but no mention of this at the altar. Also the son & his son are buried here, that was mentioned on their web site but not anywhere actually there. I really feel like I missed out a lot by not remembering these details. I actually think these items need to be mentioned - either on a brochure or a sign. We don't live close enough to just go back again. See more..

Pleasant, peaceful. Nice grounds for walking. There's a Stations of the Cross which requires some stairs and climbing. There's also a large Crucifix with wooden stairs in front, for you to climb up on your knees. They also have a walking loop for the Rosary, on flat ground. Nice little Chapel and gift shop. If you need a break from your hectic life, this is the place for you to help you slow down. You could spend a couple hours here or just a few minutes. This is also just down the road from the Enfield Shaker Museum which you might want to visit as well. See more..
