We visited the campus this morning on our tour of New England. After seeing the 1902 Hanover Inn and learning about its tumultuous history, we crossed the large Commons to visit the 1928-2002 Baker-Berry Library. It was open to students but not to us visitors so we will miss the 1934 murals by Jose Clemente Orozco and the 3rd floor reading room. It is really a beautiful campus with all the stately building and green everywhere, but the winters?See more..

Franklin Pierce Homestead was the home of the fourteenth president of the United States from his infancy until his marriage in 1834. The Pierce Homestead is a spacious and beautiful, federal style country home. Built by Pierce's father in 1804, it reflects the gracious and affluent living of the nineteenth century. A ballroom, which extends the entire length of the second floor, was used for entertaining neighbors and distinguished families of the state and nation. Franklin Pierce shared Daniel Webster's dedication to national unity and led our country during the most trying of times, the time of slavery. The Pierce Homestead is available, at a fee, for small private functions & meetings.See more..

5.0Phillips Exeter Academy(39 reviews) - Accessible high school in pretty town. Educational sites
We stopped here today to see the Academy Library built in 1971 and designed by Luis Kahn. He works in International Modernism and this structure is a bold cube of bricks 111’/side and 80’ tall. We especially wanted to see its dramatic central hall and interior double staircase but a sign outside said the pathways and facilities of the academy were closed due to Covid. We did see the exterior of the 1914-1930 Academy Building, the 1895 Phillips Church and the 1856 Town Hall in this very pretty and accessible historic town.See more..
