This park is right next to the restaurant I had lunch in. The old Boston & Maine RR turntable is quite unique! There's also a cute, colorful stage with a backdrop for plays or concerts. An older couple was gearing up to bike the Cotton Valley Rail Trail when I was there. See more..

  5. 4.0 Barrington Community Playground (1 review)
    - GREAT PLAYGROUND FOR THE YOUNGER SET

    Barrington Community Playground image
Heading for the Barrington Public Library for some research, I noticed the Barrington Community Playground next door. I saw a good amount of equipment. I went over to take a look. Children from the Early Childhood Learning Center, a kindergarten on the other side of the library, were having outdoor playtime and having a lot of fun on the slide and swings. There were individual small things for the children to sit on and pretend they were riding. There were two open round spheres and two insects that appeared to be capable of rocking. A small open play building had the sign: Calef’s County Store ~ not a true replica of the actual store. The playground surface was not dirt. It seemed to be made up of some type of chips. They looked like a rubbery substance and felt slightly spongy underfoot. That cushioning was great for safety. On dirt surfaces around the playground on will notice a lot small nearly-colorless sparkly things. They are pieces of mica, a mineral. I rate the Barrington Community Playground at 4.50 and can recommend a visit. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..

  7. 4.0 Bellamy Park (1 review)
    - DISC GOLF COURSE & MULTI-USE PARK

    Bellamy Park image
Bellamy Park is a 33-acre community park near the new Dover High School. The main feature is a disc golf course. There is a small picnic area near the parking lot. Access to the main parts of the park is over a footbridge and up two short flights of stairs that have no handrails. Up in the main parts of the park are the 18-hole disc golf course, a small playground, and areas for walking, jogging, and trekking around the perimeter. The Bellamy River runs through the park. There is a place where fishing is allowed. Crossing the footbridge, one can see a scenic spot. There are rocks in the river that create rapids and a mini waterfall. I always pause to watch the water flow there. At the time of my visit, the trail was open, but the disc golf course and the playground were closed due to COVID-19 restrictions which were eased in time for Memorial Day weekend. Passing the small picnic area, I noticed that the paint on the one table was peeling. During my visit, I had a relaxing trek. I’ve been here before when the disc golf course was open and have had to be on the lookout for flying discs as not all disc golfers are skilled at controlling the direction of their discs. Also, while I was there, I saw a few other people using the trails. There is a building on the property that houses the pro shop which is operated by Broken Chains Disc Golf Supplies from Manchester, NH. It wasn’t open yet as of mid-May. Only the picnic area and the clearing adjacent to the river are fully handicapped accessible. And, for those with issues with balance, a walking stick is highly recommended not only for the stairs but also for the uneven terrain up in the park which has a few slightly hilly and sloped areas. In the winter, this park becomes a cross-country skiing course. For some of its unique features and its scenic setting on the river, I rate Bellamy Park at 4.50. 8. 3.0 Long Hill Memorial Park (1 review)
    - MULTI-USE CITY PARK
    Parks • Playgrounds
Out for some walking and fresh air and during the COVID-19 time, I went to Long Hill Memorial Park. The 12 acre park near Old Rochester Road had a wooded area, a walking section, a picnic area, a small playground with equipment, two tennis courts, and a basketball court. There is also a section fenced off for the dog park. At the time of my visit, the park was closed to everything except walking. It was a peaceful and quiet environment. I got in a good relaxing 20 minute walk. As I left, a runner came by. I rate Long Hill Memorial Park at 3.50. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below. See more..
