A must-see for travellers visiting the Rotterdam, Delft and Den Haag area. The Windmill De Walvisch (which is both a museum and a shop) is where most tours start, either by foot or by boat, as there is a tour boat (called the whisper boat) embarking at the entrance of the museum and sails around the canal that surrounds all of Schiedam with a tour guide. Nice children’s farm, although plenty of adults can be found petting the animals here too. It was quite busy with people from all walks of life. You can feed the goats a bottle of milk (currently only when you buy a consumption in the restaurant due to COVID-19), there’s a pancake restaurant, a place where you can rent canoes and of course all sorts of farm animals which you can interact with. And finally, you can buy a vast array of biological products. It can get very busy (even in COVID-19 times), but certainly is a great place to spend some time! See more..

This was a very nice experience, walking straight into the early 17th century. It was as if we'd visit William Bradford himself in his humble home. It's tiny, but the collection and the explanation of the host made up for this. I'd recommend reserving a visit when in Leiden. See more..

Even in nice weather well worth a visit. Ofcourse the museum deals with the fishing history of Katwijk, but the collection of paintings is amazing, much more than you would expect from an unknown museum. On the top floor you will find a presentation of escapees from the German occupation to England. Well documented and very interesting. All that for a small entrance fee. See more..

Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 11:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Escape Games
I am a veteran escape roomer and did two of the rooms at this company on a recent escape room weekend. We did the exicution and Jason’s revenge. I loved The exicution and liked Jason’s revenge. The exicution is not like anything I’ve done before and had many many surprises. There’s still one part that I can’t quite understand how they did it. Jason’s revenge also had a few surprises but it felt a bit worn down at times. To top it all off they had a great staff. I only wish we had had time to do the other rooms at the company. See more..

- 4.5 Groothoofdspoort (71 reviews)
-A city gate at the nicest part/ view in town, at the point where three rivers come together..
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings
This is the only remaining citygate in Dordrecht... the foundations of this gate date back from the fourteenth century, but it's current state and look dates back from the 17th century. It is different from any other city gate that I have seen in the Netherlands, both in colour and with it's decorations... This really is a must see!. not only for the Gate itself, but also this point of town with a great view on the water and all the terraces/ restaurants/ cafes that are there. The Gate is currently part of a Hotel/ Restaurant, but you can still see it and go under it without having to go and eat there. Without having seen this city gate your day in Dordrecht would not have been complete!. See more..

-Best exhibit in Holland/highly recommend
Tuesday: 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM Spent < 1 hour History Museums
I am an American student who has family that fought on both fronts. This by far has left the biggest impression on me. The amount of information that the exhibit shared was astounding. So many heroic stories of Dutch people fleeing the German occupation. But to top it all off, there was a gentleman who works there who knew an amazing amount of first-hand stories. I forgot his name but he was so insightful. I really recommend talking to him if you can. See more..

- 4.5 Museum 1940-1945 (37 reviews)
-Surprise packet
Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums
Let me start by indicating that as an Aussie of Dutch parents - who lived through the war period - this museum has a personal appeal. It helped me to better understand what daily life was like during the German occupation. I stumbled on to this small museum after visiting the Van Gijn Huis which is next door. The 2 Euro entrance was great value. The museum is packed with donated items (ration cards, improvised equipment and substitute items used by the locals during the occupation). The museum also explains the significance of the Dordrecht area in the war. The exhibits are well labelled - most in English as well as Dutch. It is a real tribute to the efforts of many volunteers. I was also fortunate to have a volunteer walk me through the rooms and tell me much of the details behind many of the display items (mainly in English) and answer my queries. I felt very fortunate to have visited this museum. See more..
- 4.5 Distillery Rutte (37 reviews)
-Dutch Liquor at it's best (it's a secret)
Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Distilleries
Our spirits today are the result of seven generations of Rutte fathers meticulously teaching their sons the art of distilling, always with a passion for craft. We still hand-make our gins and genevers in the same tiny back-room where our founder, Simon Rutte, concocted his first spirits back in 1872. Simon, with access to exotic spices and fruits from the Dutch East Indies, put them to good use in the still. Soon his spirits were so popular that he transformed the family’s café out front into a liquor store. Thus, Rutte was born. We haven’t changed much since our origination. The family’s former living room continues to welcome guests as Rutte’s tasting room. Mini tasting: Every Friday and Saterday at 15.00 and 16.00 hours. Duration 25 minutes, includes a tour and little tasting See more..
